Hello,

is it possible to connect 8 Marshall 1960AV cabinets to a Crest Power Amp that has 2 8ohm outputs?

Thanks

Hello Klaas,

If the two sockets on your amplifier are connected in parrelle and  giving the amplifier an overall load of 8 ohms you could connect four 1960AV in series parrelle giving an overall impedenace of 16ohms, connect the other four in the same way, then connect the two sets in parrelle will give an overall impedance of 8ohms.

If your amplifier is 8 ohms stereo then it is not possible to connect four cabinets into each socket as we have already said four cabinets give an overall impedance of 16ohms.

Kind Regards

You would need to have all the cabinets switched to mono, connect four pairs of cabinets in series which will give you 4 pairs of 32 ohms, then connect two of the 32 ohms  in parallel which will give you two lots of 16ohms. Then connect the two 16ohms in parallel which will give you an overall impedance of 8 ohms, as the two sockets on the amplifier are wired in parallel you can plug the 8ohms speaker lead into either of the two.
