Using DSL 40C with Speaker Cab

I have a 2012 DSL40C.  If I use a 16 Ohm extenstion cab, can I plug that into one of the 8 OHM outputs, and then move the cord for the internal 16 ohm speaker to the other 8 ohm output, basically turning this into a 12 x 3 speaker configuration? Will the amp be able to power that many speakers?

Hello Michael,

The way you descibed the connection is correct, just remebering to plug the internal speaker back into the 16ohms socket when not using the extension cabinet.

Good morning,

I just bought a DSL40 new and a MC212 cab used ( 4 ohms mono, 8 ohms stereo). Can I use all three speakers together? Which speaker output configuration do I use? Just when I think I understand ohms I become confused again.

Please, advise

Hi Beau,

You would need to remove the 1x16 speaker lead from the amp, and then connect to either the 1x4 or 1x8 on the back of the amp to the cab, you will then lose the Amplifier speaker so can with use the amp speaker or the cab speakers.
