New JCM 800 2203 with low humming sound

Just received my new JCM 800 2203 head with a new vintage 1960 av cabinet. Hooked it up and turned the power on standby. Very noticeable humming sound coming from inside the head. Is this normal? I have a early 90's JCM 900 that never has made any sounds on standby or powered up fully. Can I get some advice before I decide to send it back and go with something else?

thanks much!

Hello Rory,

It is perfectly normal to hear a slight hum coming from the amplifier.

Kind Regards

I have a 1990’s JCM 900 and it is dead silent on standby and powered up. Why would my new one produce a very noticeable hum even when on standby? Is it cheap circuitry?
Thanks

If you feel that the hum is too loud then we would recommend that you take it back to the dealer so they can check it over for you. - Lee Tomlin 18 Dec 2019 at 08:29 AM
