I bought a Valvestate 8100 head with a AVT 4×12 cabinet but its lacking a serious amount of gain & sustain even on max. I changed the pre-amp tube but it didn't make a difference. It still sounds dull and weak. What could be the cause of it?

We recommend that you have it looked at by a qualified engineer as the amplfier of this age may just need a good service.
