AS80R as speaker cabinet

I have an old acoustic AS80R that I have been using with a semi acoustic electric guitar for a nice clean sound. I like the sound of the combo (it has Celestion speaker elements), but the amplifier makes a constant 100 Hz buzz as soon as I turn it on, even when no guitar is connected. The buzz is louder than what I consider normal. Two professional service shops have tried to repair it.

Could I use it as speaker cabinet and replace the amp with a separate amplifier & how to do it?

Hello Jukka,

Regarding your AS80R it sounds as though the fault is in the power supply possibly a faulty smoothing capacitor in the power supply.

Many thanks. Is it possible to replace the power supply, maybe with an external one? If not, where can I find power PCB circuit diagram AS80-60-00? I only have AS80-61-02, AS80-62-02 and AS80-60-02. - Jukka Toivola 09 Nov 2017 at 08:47 AM
Due to the age of the amplifier the boards are no longer available. - Marshall 10 Nov 2017 at 09:56 AM
