Just curious if there is a way to do this without a computer- can you use bluetooth headsets with the CODE 50 as a monitor when you play? In other words, I tried to use my headphones (wireless) to connect to my phone while the app is running, and I can't get any feed from the amp into the buds. Just wondering if there is a way to hear the amp wirelessly with the buds while also simultaneously having the amp speaker still audible.
I am having problems with the new firmware on my code 25 and gateway app on an iPhone. It used to work fine but now gateway is not connecting to the amp.
With my phone, I have no problems at all connecting to my Code 50
I have an Android tablet that is very hit & miss connecting; at times, it will connect on first try. Other times, I have spent 25-30 minutes getting it to connect. I've gone as far as uninstalling Gateway and doing a fresh install.
Granted, it's a cheaper tablet but it shouldn't be this difficult
Hello-
Bought a second-hand CODE 50 and really love its flexibility when paired with the app.
I've tried recording by mic'ing it up with a SM57 but found the cabinet/speaker to be a little rattley and couldn't determine the source.
That led me to explore USB to DAW, unfortunately my brand new, and ten year old MacBooks both do not see the amp, and I cannot update thr Firmware via browser, per the instructions.
As a last ditch effort I went 1/8th" stereo cable out to L/R RCA with 1/4" adapters to get into my DAWs LINE-INs and pan hard left and right.
Works works great, but my question is - does the CODE 50 send a stereo signal from the headphone out? -and should I be running to hard panned inputs to capitalize on a stereo image?
Also, any remedy for connecting via USB to my MacBook to at least update the firmware?
Thx!
Dear Marshall team:
I use the Code 25 amplifier, with the Gateway app and the Code series footswitch. The firmware is updated with the latest version available.
For a long time I have been noticing certain problems, mainly:
-The preset settings are changed on their own (sometimes the volume, other times the gain...) They are usually changed to the settings on the control knobs. I load the preset again, and after a while some of the settings are changed again.
-Another problem is that after using a preset for a while, when changing to another it does not change (it stays blocked). It does not respond either by using the pedal or by changing the preset from the app I have to turn off the amp. At first I thought it would be a Bluetooth problem, since I was using the Gateway application, with an iPhone. But now I'm using it with an Android phone and I continue to have the same problems.
Waiting for your comments, receive a cordial greeting.
Eduardo,
The Gateway app on my Android phone has been repeatedly losing connetion to my CODE head in recent months, and attempts to manually reconnect have usually failed. This unreliability is completely unworkable for gigging, so today I have tried to solve the problem through a thorough update and reset ... but now I can't get the connection to work at all. I deleted the Gateway app from my phone, unpaired the phone from the head (by "forgetting" the Bluetooth pairing), and have installed all pending firmware updates. When doing those installations, I noticed that several related to improving Bluetooth operation, so I was hopeful this would solve my problems. So I've gone ahead and carried out the "First connection" instructions on the website, but these instructions have failed at a very early stage. After I press Rev and Power and get the blue flashing light, when I attempt to "Pair new device" from my phone, I get the message "No nearby Bluetooth devices were found". This connectivity problem is definitely at the Marshall end, because I have checked that my phone is able to connect with other Bluetooth devices and it is doing so fine, so the fault is not with the Bluetooth operation of my phone. It seems like there have been some known Bluetooth connectivity problems that you've tried to fix during recent firmware updates, so is this something you can advise me about and give me a fix for? I hope so - there's not much point in you having a really good product if it's unusable in practice.
Hello!
I have a Marshall CODE50 combo, and when i connect it to my iPad via cable, the input and the output works well in applications developed by Apple (like Garage Band), but I can't control of my amplifier settings in Marshall Gateway app. Is there any way to control the combo on the iPad through the cable?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
There used to be a choice on the my.marshall.com presets page called "Mygateway". I want to view my Code 50 presets from my amp on my computer's screen. I no longer see this choice. (Don't want to use the phone app)
Thanks,
RF
Hi !
i was wondering, is it possible to use MIDI via a bluetooth connection ?
In fact i'd like to use a simple DAW application on my Android tablet to make some music using my Marshall Code. My Code amp connect to my tablet and the Gateway app runs nice, no problem. In the DAW app (which is for now BandLab), i see an option about a "Connected MIDI Devices" and my Code doesnt appear there. So i asked myself if the MIDI interface was really available with Bluetooth ? Or is there something special to configure or install ?
thanks in advance !

i wasn thinking about buying a marshall code 100 but im not sure if its useable with the marshall code amp app.
Please people, could you help us to developing a new firmware update to fix the DSP AMP simulations for Code 25/ Code 50?
If you could make a fast research on web, you are going to see that this is a very common issue for all Code users. Probably the last firmware updates is affecting just a part of the DSP boards, not all, but in my case and many other people, we can not use the AMP simulations anymore, and the Distortion and Overdrive FX are not ok too.
At least, could you make the older firmware versions available for tests? I'm sure that most part of the users prefer to have the original and very nice tones than bluetooth running better, better connection with the App, or any other improvement.
Thank you, and please, consider our beg.
Hi, I had a marshall code, dsl 1w, 15w and 40w. I liked of 1w, much loud! I sold all and I have been used a app amplitube with iphone and ipad + irig nano amp, but I figure out in the worst way about update versions, It just stops working after the update. A nice day, and you cant play anymore on analogic gear.
Now Id like a all in gear and the better for me now its the Code 25. Even without the app I can handle the amp manually. Although, be convenient.
Whats the current version suportted for code today? My IPAD 9th is 16.5, IPHONE 7 is 13. Is it works?
thanks.
After selecting a Preset, and after playing a song when I go back to the Gateway app I see a message saying, "Amp Disconnected, Connection with your CODE amp has been lost. Please check your amp and try to connect again." When I select "OK" it reconnects then I can select a preset. This seems like a new"bug" since the Gateway app has been updated to the current version. My iPhone is on a stand close to my CODE 50 the entire time. (about 1 or 2 feet at most).
Please advise. Thanks!

Hi, does code 25 works with Tonebridge app on Android, connected by irig 2?
In case Marshall decides to do another round of Codes, or for people that want to buy one, here is my bottom line after dealing with this thing for a few years. I had Line 6 experience and wanted a simpler all-in-one modeling combo with a bluetooth app that could do hard rock. The Katana looked like a toy so I bought this.
PROS: Solid construction. Looks great. Good range of amps and effects. Bluetooth app is very good and can tune every parameter. Tones can be downloaded and backed up to/from Marshall site. Amp can sound very good (after a lot of tweaking). The Plexi, American OD, JTM Crunch and Acoustic amps are good. The Guv’nor, Compressor, Chorus, noise gate and all the delays and reverbs are useable. Marshall has done sufficient software updates to correct early issues (bluetooth, tones, bugs). Can be used at bedroom volume with Master on ‘1’. Optional footswitch gives good control. Documentation is good. Updater software on PC works well.
CONS: Other than those mentioned above, all the other amps and effects are bad. This includes the JCM800, JVM and Silver Jubilee. All the cabs are bad. None of the stock patches are usable. You have to make your own. There are user uploaded patches you can try but very few are usable. Learning curve is significant. The amp is too loud. When you turn up from bedroom level to louder, the sounds change and become very boomy which should not happen with a modeling amp. No effects loop. The ‘out’ is a mini USB. Connecting to a computer requires a mini USB to USB or Lightning cable, which is not included. I tried to use the USB to record to Garageband and sound came out but I couldn’t make it sound good. The footswitch also has a learning curve, and like other people I had to have mine replaced.
ADVICE: Don’t buy it. I bought my Code 50 new from Sweetwater for $299 and now the same version of the amp is $399. If you must have a Code, get the 25 instead. It is cheaper and still absurdly loud. The higher volume available in the 50 is useless because it sounds bad. The extra hundred bucks just gets you painfully loud solid state power amp watts.
If you do get a Code, upgrade all the firmware immediately. You need to connect to a computer to do this, but first you have to find the cable on Amazon. This is unforgivable.
BOTTOM LINE: I have spent too many hours tweaking the Code. This is what I hated about Line 6. But the Line 6 tones were superior. I never got a good JCM 800 sound out of the Code, after hundreds of hours of work. It’s only “great” amp sim, oddly, is the American OD. Marshall’s own Classic Metal patch uses this, not a “Marshall” sim! The Code is marketed as Marshall technology with amp sims created by Marshall, but it is not. Softube created the software and tones. This is not a Marshall amp. Line 6 Marshall sims are far better.
I have now bought a tube amp. I am keeping the Code because I have mastered it and can practice on it but I would not buy it again, certainly not for $399.
Hello.. Why does "My gateway" not appear when I access it from the PC?
new purchase. I have a custom Eddie Van Halen replica orginal. Excact copy of the famous Frankie.
I have spent time on the app and making adjustments however I dont get the sound i was hope for. Perhaps I need to add an FX ex Boss ME-50. To get the sound i am looking for. ACDC / Kiss / VH. all i get is a little louder version of my guitar. I have watched many videos on line and they change the setting and get classic rock sounds. Like a Gibson or whatever. Classic rocks sounds. I have tried many VH and ACDC pre programmed set ups and still not he tone i am looking for. What am i missing?
Thanks
Hi,
I know that this is a recurrent demand, but please, no more "control the volume using Gateway app" answers, everybody knows that this is a component issue, not a software need for update or anything. The fact is that master volume pots are either low quality ones, or defective manufacturing components. So, all I need to know are the specs of this component (resistance values, taper, etc.) so I can purchase the correct component and replace it myself. Also, understand that I live in a place where there is no authorized Marshall servicing, and my Code amp is over three years old, therefore without any warranty. Again, please no more "send equipment to an engineer" answers, I have enough ability to do the work myself. A good thing would be if you make available the schematic diagrams of the Code amps, but I think that might be not possible. or you would have done it a long time ago.
Thank you in advance for your attention! Marshall Code RULES! But without that scratchy pot...
Best Regards,
I turned all of the presets off, all i want is a plain Plexi or hot rod amp. I have my own reverb and my own delay and EQ. So I took Marshall Fury Lead which sounds pretty good and turned all the other stuff off...
then when i get app. on my phone turned on it goes and overwrites the preset on the Code 100 head. ??? wtf? Now its noisey and feeding back an out of control.
I cannot risk having an amp that squeals and changes presets like that without me asking it. There are too many settings too much to go wrong.
I am starting to regret buying this thing.
How do i fix it so that the preset stays in the cloud on the amp and everywhere else forever!.. Until i change it...Can anyone please help with that?
its a 100 watt Code. I just want it to be a dirty power amp, no cab simulator nothing...
thanks, NIck
When switching between presets, factory made and made by others - in the app the sound goes from low medium to max, up and down..
I use my amp on low in our living room, and its bad for my kids.. scary.
Also alot of fizz crackling when turning the master knob. Common issue? Is there a fix? Sound jumping up and down.
When the sound is super loud i just touch the volume knob and it goes down in volume to where the volume knob actually is
Presets are now saved to User Library and can be easily accessed in Gateway app. Any preset then can be stored to any CODE slot. Double tap the preset and ten tap the first "Save" button, then it will show you a screen with the 100 CODE preset slots, where you can select where to store your preset.
The only missing feature might be the ability to re-arrange CODE presets, which we will see what we can do about it.
We are working on a feature in Gateway app that allows to re-order CODE presets. Hopefully, that would help you.
