Morning

I am wanting to set my number three pedal on the footswitch of my Code 50 as my tap tempo across all presets. Is this possible, or do I need to do it per preset?

Also - if you can please run me through how to do this.

Hello all

I am using a Code 25 together with a PEDL-91009 footswitch.

I would like to know if is it possible modify the volume using this pedal. I have read this thread:

(?

but it is not running, I am not getting different volume when changing the preset.

Your help is much appreciated ;-)

Kind regards,

Dear Marshall team:

I use the Code 25 amplifier, with the Gateway app and the Code series footswitch. The firmware is updated with the latest version available.

For a long time I have been noticing certain problems, mainly:

-The preset settings are changed on their own (sometimes the volume, other times the gain...) They are usually changed to the settings on the control knobs. I load the preset again, and after a while some of the settings are changed again.

-Another problem is that after using a preset for a while, when changing to another it does not change (it stays blocked). It does not respond either by using the pedal or by changing the preset from the app I have to turn off the amp. At first I thought it would be a Bluetooth problem, since I was using the Gateway application, with an iPhone. But now I'm using it with an Android phone and I continue to have the same problems.

Waiting for your comments, receive a cordial greeting.

Hi all,

I have a brand new Code 50 + Footswitch - got them today.  I have saved 3 of my own presets to Bank A 1 2 3.  No problem. Also assigned the tuner to a switch.  That was all fairly straightforward.

However, I am unable to assign any other (new) presets to any of the other banks. When I follow the exact same process I used for Bank A - The footswitch just defaults to one of the amps, stock presets (all of which sound nasty).

I've watched the tutorials. At the moment, I have only 3 presets of my making on the switch and no, apparent way, of using any of the other banks.

Am I missing something obvious?

Cheers,

Mike

In case Marshall decides to do another round of Codes, or for people that want to buy one, here is my bottom line after dealing with this thing for a few years. I had Line 6 experience and wanted a simpler all-in-one modeling combo with a bluetooth app that could do hard rock. The Katana looked like a toy so I bought this.

PROS: Solid construction. Looks great. Good range of amps and effects. Bluetooth app is very good and can tune every parameter. Tones can be downloaded and backed up to/from Marshall site. Amp can sound very good (after a lot of tweaking). The Plexi, American OD, JTM Crunch and Acoustic amps are good. The Guv’nor, Compressor, Chorus, noise gate and all the delays and reverbs are useable. Marshall has done sufficient software updates to correct early issues (bluetooth, tones, bugs). Can be used at bedroom volume with Master on ‘1’. Optional footswitch gives good control. Documentation is good. Updater software on PC works well.

CONS: Other than those mentioned above, all the other amps and effects are bad. This includes the JCM800, JVM and Silver Jubilee. All the cabs are bad. None of the stock patches are usable. You have to make your own. There are user uploaded patches you can try but very few are usable. Learning curve is significant. The amp is too loud. When you turn up from bedroom level to louder, the sounds change and become very boomy which should not happen with a modeling amp. No effects loop. The ‘out’ is a mini USB. Connecting to a computer requires a mini USB to USB or Lightning cable, which is not included. I tried to use the USB to record to Garageband and sound came out but I couldn’t make it sound good. The footswitch also has a learning curve, and like other people I had to have mine replaced.

ADVICE: Don’t buy it. I bought my Code 50 new from Sweetwater for $299 and now the same version of the amp is $399. If you must have a Code, get the 25 instead. It is cheaper and still absurdly loud. The higher volume available in the 50 is useless because it sounds bad. The extra hundred bucks just gets you painfully loud solid state power amp watts.

If you do get a Code, upgrade all the firmware immediately. You need to connect to a computer to do this, but first you have to find the cable on Amazon. This is unforgivable.

BOTTOM LINE: I have spent too many hours tweaking the Code. This is what I hated about Line 6. But the Line 6 tones were superior. I never got a good JCM 800 sound out of the Code, after hundreds of hours of work. It’s only “great” amp sim, oddly, is the American OD. Marshall’s own Classic Metal patch uses this, not a “Marshall” sim! The Code is marketed as Marshall technology with amp sims created by Marshall, but it is not. Softube created the software and tones. This is not a Marshall amp. Line 6 Marshall sims are far better.

I have now bought a tube amp. I am keeping the Code because I have mastered it and can practice on it but I would not buy it again, certainly not for $399.

Hello.. Why does "My gateway" not appear when I access it from the PC?

Marshall sent:
Do you mean "My gateway" on My Marshall website?

I sent:
Exactly!! On the website the "My Marshall" tab that contained all 100 presets no longer appears. Now I can no longer edit and reposition them as I would like.

Marshall sent:
Sorry, that feature is no longer available.
Presets are now saved to User Library and can be easily accessed in Gateway app. Any preset then can be stored to any CODE slot. Double tap the preset and ten tap the first "Save" button, then it will show you a screen with the 100 CODE preset slots, where you can select where to store your preset.
The only missing feature might be the ability to re-arrange CODE presets, which we will see what we can do about it.

I sent:
I bought a cable specifically to be able to connect my Code 100H to my PC for this feature, and it is now no longer available! I much prefer the drag and drop option as I have had so many issues storing presets to the amp in the correct slot, then programming the footswitch.
Marshall sent:
Sorry to hear that.
We are working on a feature in Gateway app that allows to re-order CODE presets. Hopefully, that would help you.

I sent:
Hello... Any updates on the comment above?

This actually is a cluster of a few questions that are closely related.

To be able to carry adapted presets with you, you need to save them tot 'Device', the second Icon from the left.
However to link a preset to a position on the Footswitch it needs to be saved to the Amp, the most left Icon when saving.

Most of the time I actually want both, have them in my device and also in the Amp, because of the footswitch.
I have nog found an easy way to do that, both on a one by one and a 'all presets' basis. Anybody?

Because you need the presets in the Amp to link to the Footswitch, every now and then I would like to return the Amp to the original Factory presets.
There are clear instruction how to do that, but when I do, I do not get the Original Marshall Code Factory Settings, but basically what is in my 'MyMarshall'.
I seem not to be able to go back to the presets that were in the Code when I first bought it.
Is there a way to do that, or what is the logic behind it?

It is convenient to take my presets to another Code and use mine, but in a gig, they need to be linked to the footswitch.
So how to deal with that?

Thanks for anyones help!

Hello folks, I have just bought the Marshall Code 100 which I was really excited about having read the description and watched the demo videos. The amp does sound amazing, but yesterday, on the first occasion that I actually tried the amp during a rehearsal, I was shocked to discover that when I step on the provided footswitch to change presets (like activating one with distortion or heavy delay), mid-song, the flow of the sound broke, there was a moment of silence before it switched to the next preset. I've been trying to research this on the Internet, but have only found 2 instances of it being addressed, no one talks about this in review videos or blogs. This baffles me - how is (mostly) everyone ok with this?

This effectively makes it impossible to use the built-in effects of the amp, which is exactly what its main outstanding feature is. Why have 100 presets when you can't switch mid-song? Are guitarists only supposed to use the Code family to select the main sound they want for a certain song, then keep using pedals for changes mid-song? ?

I'm extremely disappointed since the built-in effects were the main reason I went for this amp - I wanted to use this as both an amp and a multi-effect board to some extent. Is there any fix for this? A firmware update may be, or does the separately-sold Code pedal make a difference?

Seriously considering returning it at this point. Advance thanks for the replies.

I am not able to use the product in a minimally satisfactory way due to the following problems and difficulties:

- It is not possible to change the order of patches saved in either the hardware or the mobile application. There is no way to back up the saved patch set;

- The foot controller only controls the patches of blocks 1, 2 and 3. I explain: the FS only handles A1, A2, A3, up to J1, J2 and J3, which totals only 30 patches out of the 100 available. It is not possible to handle patches numbers 4 to 10, 14 to 20, 24 to 30, 34 to 40, etc.

- The unit is crashing during patch editing directly on the hardware (I have videos with the evidence).

Marshall Team, we need your support to resolve this, please! Thanks!

Hi i have a set of combined issues with my Code 50 with the 4 button footswitch

First of, love the products!

But my issue with it is major! I cannot set any preset on my footswitch, It seems so easy on the tutorials but mine just keeps on switching back to the preset that already was on the button (1,2 or 3). I do as followed. I chose the preset i want on ex.button 1, so i hold the "store/exit" button for 2 seconds and then i push the 1 button on the footswitch. But it only changes back to the preset it WAS. So no changes. When i HOLD the "Store/Exit" button for too long (3a4 sec) then it says "stored" and then no sounds comes out of the amp anymore, i can push the REV and AMP buttons and the LED light up. But no sound! The footswitch also then doesnt butch. I have to restart the AMP to get it to work again.

I tried to update the firmware but it already was up-to-date so i reinstalled the latest firmware again. I also tried to reset the AMP back to the factory reset but the problem still exists.

Please help,

Hi,
owned a code 25 for a while now but only really started using it during lockdown but have to say I'm really impressed. I'm just using it for living room playing and connected to my DAW as a way of laying down ideas but seriously, it's REALLY good.

For context, I've played guitar for 27 years and working in live music has been my primary source of income (pre lockdown....) for around 17 years. I'm usually a live-sound engineer and tour manager and occasionally fill in the gaps with some guitar-teching. I'm uk-based but have international clients, mostly guitar-based, playing mostly academy sized venues but have done major festivals worldwide and one short stint of an arena tour. The point here is not to blow my whistle, simply to say I've spent a lot of time being exposed to all manner of amps and modelling.

I own a line 6 helix and while the CODE isn't as flexible with regards to I/O, I genuinely feel like it's amp-modelling, especially for crunch, fuzzy or blown out tones, blows the Helix out of the water. Not that I'm as likely to use metal tones or had much cause to tweak them but I've noticed those kind of presets can sound a little thin. Also, higher gain sounds in general could benefit from a graphic EQ somewhere in the modelling chain, as it can be prone to squeak at frequencies usually outside of a regular amps range, presumably because of the full-range nature of the cab.

So, my query is, is there any chance that the CODE range is likely to get any substantial firmware updates or maybe 2nd generation hardware that could bring additional functionality/Pro level durability and a decent footswitch... I'm impressed that you've managed to get that much functionality out of a mono-jack but a few extra switches or even just midi connectivity for use with after market footswitched to access would open the amp right up.

Personally, I'd love to see one capable of more complex I/O routing i.e. the ability to record your dry input to DAW over usb and similarly, route from the DAW to the amp input for re-amping.

Midi I/O and an xlr input with phantom and a decent sounding pre would make it a nice little hub for a solo recording setup.

Anyway, great work Marshall/Softube, really hope you develop the line further.

Hi

I recently bought a Marshcall Code 50 and I have two old footswitches (a Behringer and a Boss Dual foot switch FS-6). All I want to be able to do is cycle between presets on the code. On both the footswitches the code only cycles backwards, and not forwards at all. Is there a setting on the code somewhere that I need to change so that I can cycle either way through the presets?

Much appreciated

I was wondering if the creator of the KASHMIR preset would be interested in also creating the FLANGER part for KASHMIR using all the current preset settings (amp, cabinet, speaker etc) as a complimentary preset for the turnaround section of the song.  I believe, from forums, that a preset will switch better (Marshall CODE footswitch) if the preset has the same amp, speaker and or cabinet setting as it takes away the millisecond delay of switching between amps in a particular preset.  Look forward to your answer and or creation of said beasty.

Regards Kev
