I have tried using a Boss DD-3 in the effects loop but I can hear a significant drop in volume and tone when the loop is engaged. If I remove the pedal and just have a patch cable going from the send to return, there is no volume or tone loss when the loop is engaged. If I move the DD-3 to the front of the amp there is also no volume or tone loss. Why can't I use this pedal in the effects loop?
I have an issue with tap tempo on the Code 25 with 1.45 firmware and wondered if anyone else has the same issue. The manual says you should "press MOD and DEL selection switches together". When I do that the amp does indeed go into tap tempo mode (tap the selector switch to set tempo), but regardless of how quick I press the buttons or if I hold down one and then hit the other it always switches on the MOD module too. The other double combination switches (tuner and bluetooth) dont do this and work as expected and only switch on those functions without switching on or off any other modules.
I need to change the order of the presets as needed, but the Gateway application does not allow changing the position of each preset in memory.
I don't want to overwrite presets by saving to other stots, I just want to change the order of each preset.
Is there another way to perform this operation?
MyGateway does not synchronize with the hardware, it only sends it to the hardware.
My CODE presets do not appear on MyGateway.
My Stanmore 2 speaker keeps turning off & back on again (sound plays and indicator lights go on & off) when playing vinyl through the RCA or AUX. Very annoying. No problem when playing on Bluetooth through my iPhone. Any ideas please?
At some point Marshall will give up on Code and move on to something else (and by past experience it may not be that far away). I would have liked some way to backup and restore patches to the amp once there is no more Gateway or online storage (this happened to Fender Fuse)
I cant believe that after 5 years Marshall dont have even a basic PC application to perform the simple task of saving and loading patches. Even the most basic of multi FX have that functionality these days.
Its clearly hoping for too much to get an editor, you can do that on the app, or even on the amp itself fairly easily anyway. I'm more worried about managing patches if Marshall shut down the Code servers. Without a way to backup and restore what happens if you have to reset your amp. You have lost everything. After spending a lot of time getting all our sounds just right, I for one would probably give up at that point.
I'm not asking for much, save a patch from the amp to a file, load a patch back from a file to the amp!
I recently purchased a Marshall Code 25. Today I decided to update the firmware. Originally it had version 1.45 on it, but after the update it now has version 1.44. I can't find version 1.45 on the Marshall website. How can I install the latest firmware, which is 1.45?
hi , can I swap out the ecc83 preamp tube in V1 for a ecc81 in a SC20H? I’m just trying to lower gain to a much cleaner sound - preferably to the origin clean .
Any suggestions - outside of “ buy an Origin “ ;)
thanks
p.s REISSUE THE JMD:1 heads !
Hi. I'm having a problem with my DSL5CR. When plugged direct into the amp and switched to the Classic gain channel it works perfectly. However, when switched to the Ultra gain channel, the guitar is very faint and what can be heard is a weak-fuzzy sound. When I first noticed the problem, I thought it was a case of the tubes needing to warm up, as after 30 seconds the level would gradually increase, unfortunately the problem has got worse. Could it be the pre-amp tubes at fault?
Thanks,
Steve
It's been ovem a year and a half since there's been a firmware update. I was hoping they could take out some of the bass response that seems to be prevalent on my Code 50 in the next firmware update. Does anybodt know of any plans to do any updates?
Hi everybody, no question but just a statement (just to show how satisfied I am with this amp, but also maybe to encourage other users): I LOVE THE CODE50!
I own two Code50's, one for rehearsels and one for gigs - so one is the clone of the other. Today I had a feeling I should "finetune" some of my already established presets due to a new guitar I recently bought. And what can I say? Everything worked as expected: The amp (sw-version 1.44) connected with the phone (iPhone XR, iOS 14.4, Gateway version 1.5), I was able to change presets via footswitch or phone, downloaded presets and edited them - as always absolutely no problems or issues.
Thanks to Marshall for an absolutely satisfying and reliable, easy to transport and always great sounding product! 'nuff said!
I just bought a Marshall code and found the apps on iOS do not work. Research says that the problem is the app need s to be updated. When are you going to update the IOS apps ?
I know this forum has this question asked a number of times, and the reply is always to delete the app and re-install. I've done this multiple times, and it never solves the problem. In fact, I had this app successfully installed on my iPad a few years ago, and hadn't used it latey. When I use it now, I get the same message.
Context3d not available! Possible reasons: wrong renderMode or missing device support
I googled this message and found out that it's related to Flash. Apple has discontinued all support of Flash on iOS devices. So my educated guess is that you need to re-vamp this application to not use any Flash programming. No ammount of deleting and reinstalling the app will ever solve this problem. You need to update the app.
Hi
So my emberton turns on with no sound I can see all the lights and it connect But it doesn't play anything either I hope it's not water damage . I never put it in water I only touched it with wet hands Is there anyway I can hard reset it or something I couldn't find it on the internet
I would like marshall to give us a program for the official PC in the style of Code Editor, since it has abandoned its development and support several years ago, so it has many bugs, so it would be a very good detail with all CODE users who Marshall made his own software for Windows 10 PCs and MacOS with which it was easier to manage patches, rename them, organize them, import them, export them etc. I hope they give us that.
I purchased a Marshall Kilburn II speaker and had to return it because of the standby mode. The speaker turns off if not used for 10 minutes "to save battery charge" according to the manual, but it does so even when it is connected to the power source with a power cord. I basically had to approach the speaker and manually push the Bluetooth button to wake it up. I already contacted Marshall Support and they responded that it's not possible to disable standby mode in the Kilburn II. I can't imagine a more annoying thing and can't even figure out why it was necessary to ruin an otherwise perfect speaker with this "feature". Why wouldn't you make it switchable and give users a choice whether to use it or not? Would it be possible at least to disable standby mode at an authorized service center?
Hello,
I have a new DSL20CR. When I use emulated out, the signal is only present when the amp is on standby. When I switch the amp to low or high mode, there is no longer any signal on the emulated out. Is that correct?
The sound that a headphone, connected with the code100, produces does not include the effects that are placed in sent and return. That is really strange.
Music played with a phone or tablet that is connected with Bluetooth does go through the effects in the sent and return loop. Really strange again in my opinion.
I would like to know why it is wired this way and I would be really happy with a solution for at least the headphones!
Kind regards!
Hi all, i’m looking to buy a new marshall sc20c jcm800 tube amp and get payday loans 24/7 and it doesn’t have a headphone jack . Could i plug headphones into the jack called “DI OUT” or not and what does this do?
Hi,
owned a code 25 for a while now but only really started using it during lockdown but have to say I'm really impressed. I'm just using it for living room playing and connected to my DAW as a way of laying down ideas but seriously, it's REALLY good.
For context, I've played guitar for 27 years and working in live music has been my primary source of income (pre lockdown....) for around 17 years. I'm usually a live-sound engineer and tour manager and occasionally fill in the gaps with some guitar-teching. I'm uk-based but have international clients, mostly guitar-based, playing mostly academy sized venues but have done major festivals worldwide and one short stint of an arena tour. The point here is not to blow my whistle, simply to say I've spent a lot of time being exposed to all manner of amps and modelling.
I own a line 6 helix and while the CODE isn't as flexible with regards to I/O, I genuinely feel like it's amp-modelling, especially for crunch, fuzzy or blown out tones, blows the Helix out of the water. Not that I'm as likely to use metal tones or had much cause to tweak them but I've noticed those kind of presets can sound a little thin. Also, higher gain sounds in general could benefit from a graphic EQ somewhere in the modelling chain, as it can be prone to squeak at frequencies usually outside of a regular amps range, presumably because of the full-range nature of the cab.
So, my query is, is there any chance that the CODE range is likely to get any substantial firmware updates or maybe 2nd generation hardware that could bring additional functionality/Pro level durability and a decent footswitch... I'm impressed that you've managed to get that much functionality out of a mono-jack but a few extra switches or even just midi connectivity for use with after market footswitched to access would open the amp right up.
Personally, I'd love to see one capable of more complex I/O routing i.e. the ability to record your dry input to DAW over usb and similarly, route from the DAW to the amp input for re-amping.
Midi I/O and an xlr input with phantom and a decent sounding pre would make it a nice little hub for a solo recording setup.
Anyway, great work Marshall/Softube, really hope you develop the line further.
Hello,
I am a recent ower of a Marshall Origin 20, which I got in July. I've really enjoyed the amp until I plugged in last night and got out absolutely no sound out of it. I couldn't figure out why, as nothing as happened to it and it worked fine two days ago. I took it apart to do some trouble shooting and found that when I have all the knobs max'd and output on 20 watts, I can hear a whisper of my guitar signal (nicely saturated, presumably by the preamp tubes) through the speaker. This sound is affected by all of the knobs. However, if I plug my guitar directly into the return of the effects loop, and activate the effects loop I get no sound whatsoever; no guitar, no hum, nothing. Because of this, I'm sure my speaker is not the problem. These things led me to think it was a power amp section issue, so I went down and purchased a new set of matched EL34's, threw them in there, and nothing changed. I'd really like to know if there's anything I can do to fix this, because this amp is not even a year old and I should not be having these kinds of problems with completely normal bedroom use.
Thanks,
Alex
