I have a brand new Marshall DSL20 amp. It works fine without headphones but I get nothing out of my headphones when I plug them into the audio in/emulated out ports. while doing tinychat with friends. The headphones definitely work, and when I plug them in the amp makes a small popping sound but audio keeps just coming out the general amp instead. I just tried both because the other one didn’t work, And no, the headphone and mic jack are separate.

First thank for the update, the app is way more intuitive now.

When double taping on a parameter to change it's value any action on the keypad  minimise the app.

I noticed the absence of playback and tuner, I guess it's for a future version ?

Hi together,

in Oct. 2020 (2 years ago), I bought an new DSL 40 CR. After 10 months (I used the amp only at home) the amp was suddenly quiet. My dealer sent the amp to Marshall and it takes more than 2 months to get the repaired amp back.  Now in July 2022 the amp was once again quiet and this time it takes more than 3 months(!) to get the amp back.

After 2 repairs inside the warranty period I have no more trust in Marshall and I want to know, what was wrong with this amp. How can I get informations about the repair? My dealer got no information from Marshall.

Can anybody help me? Is there an warranty repair center?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I'm trying to date both my Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet, and my JCM 800 head. The Cab is a 4 x 12, 1982 A.P., serial number 1859. And my head is a 50W Mk 2 Lead, serial number W21865. I've had both since the mid to late 80's, ans wouldn't part with them for anything!! Still going strong! Thanks very much!!!

Hi,

A few months ago (Oct 2022), i buy in Reverb a Marshall Valvestate Bi Chorus 8280 and when i turn on, all feels ok, but one day i note only work one speaker. I change the cables and the other speaker are fine and i think the problem was in the output jack.

Finally, i found a tech who tell me he can check it and repair. When the amp is ready to go, i pay and check it in their local store and i notice a weak sound, but i thinked it was the room. The L and R speakers out works now but the problem comes when i push the chorus and the volume rise and have more body.

The guy tell me is because the amp only works in stereo when chorus is on (great sound and body), and in mono (sound lack and low volumen) when put off, but i don't believe it and that's why I'm looking for an answer here.

P.D. When i receive the amp, the first thing i do, is change the valve, so this is not the problem. If i disconected one speaker (L or R), sounds good and the chorus doesn´t affect the tone.

Please help me.

I am a newbie. I bought the Code 50 thinking it would be easy for it to work with pedal amps, like boss blue driver and metal zone. i did not know the code 50 did not "play" well with pedals. I even bout a noise suppressor.

Anyways I have been googling and found out that there is a "natural" channel.  I could not figure out what that ment. I thought it was a channel I could just scroll to in the preset display. After further looking into it I fould a link to this site with instructions by a person name david doss:

?

I followed the instructions (and I downloaded gateway),  but very low sound would come out of the marshall with the guitar by itself. What I mean is low sound even when volume knob and master knob all the way up. I do get sound when I activate the blues pedal for example but mainly when I adjust the GAIN knob  ON CODE 50. The volume knob does little. Since when is GAIN the new volume button? I thought in the instructions by david doss GAIN was all the way to zero.

Is there an easier way to connect my pedals to the amplifier? FYI I do not know the difference between amp and pre amp. I am really learning here. So please baby steps. Thanks in advance.

In case Marshall decides to do another round of Codes, or for people that want to buy one, here is my bottom line after dealing with this thing for a few years. I had Line 6 experience and wanted a simpler all-in-one modeling combo with a bluetooth app that could do hard rock. The Katana looked like a toy so I bought this.

PROS: Solid construction. Looks great. Good range of amps and effects. Bluetooth app is very good and can tune every parameter. Tones can be downloaded and backed up to/from Marshall site. Amp can sound very good (after a lot of tweaking). The Plexi, American OD, JTM Crunch and Acoustic amps are good. The Guv’nor, Compressor, Chorus, noise gate and all the delays and reverbs are useable. Marshall has done sufficient software updates to correct early issues (bluetooth, tones, bugs). Can be used at bedroom volume with Master on ‘1’. Optional footswitch gives good control. Documentation is good. Updater software on PC works well.

CONS: Other than those mentioned above, all the other amps and effects are bad. This includes the JCM800, JVM and Silver Jubilee. All the cabs are bad. None of the stock patches are usable. You have to make your own. There are user uploaded patches you can try but very few are usable. Learning curve is significant. The amp is too loud. When you turn up from bedroom level to louder, the sounds change and become very boomy which should not happen with a modeling amp. No effects loop. The ‘out’ is a mini USB. Connecting to a computer requires a mini USB to USB or Lightning cable, which is not included. I tried to use the USB to record to Garageband and sound came out but I couldn’t make it sound good. The footswitch also has a learning curve, and like other people I had to have mine replaced.

ADVICE: Don’t buy it. I bought my Code 50 new from Sweetwater for $299 and now the same version of the amp is $399. If you must have a Code, get the 25 instead. It is cheaper and still absurdly loud. The higher volume available in the 50 is useless because it sounds bad. The extra hundred bucks just gets you painfully loud solid state power amp watts.

If you do get a Code, upgrade all the firmware immediately. You need to connect to a computer to do this, but first you have to find the cable on Amazon. This is unforgivable.

BOTTOM LINE: I have spent too many hours tweaking the Code. This is what I hated about Line 6. But the Line 6 tones were superior. I never got a good JCM 800 sound out of the Code, after hundreds of hours of work. It’s only “great” amp sim, oddly, is the American OD. Marshall’s own Classic Metal patch uses this, not a “Marshall” sim! The Code is marketed as Marshall technology with amp sims created by Marshall, but it is not. Softube created the software and tones. This is not a Marshall amp. Line 6 Marshall sims are far better.

I have now bought a tube amp. I am keeping the Code because I have mastered it and can practice on it but I would not buy it again, certainly not for $399.

I have installed the IOS app, and I have two Marshall speakers: the Acton II, and the Stanmore II.

The Stanmore had no issues, I suspect because it does not require a firmware update (yet).  The Acton II on the other hand, will not connect without a firmware update.  Taking that route, it leads to an indefinitel hang.  It starts and never moves past the 20% mark, and it stays that way indefinitely.

I've tried power-cycling the speaker.

I've tried factory-resetting it too.

I've also tried installing the app on my Mac (rather than the iPhone), with exactly the same results.

Nothing.

Anyone else come across this?

Updates from a Marshall support call to which I have responded:

Hello,

Thanks for contacting the Marshall Support Team.

Let's try a few steps to see if we can resolve this issue together.

First: it is important to note that the Marshall Bluetooth app is NOT needed to pair the speaker to your phone. Please keep the app closed until you get to the very last section of the instructions below.

(1) Perform a factory reset of the speaker:
- Press and HOLD the Source and Play/Pause button for 7-10 seconds...DONE
- The SOURCE LED's will all flash quickly to confirm the reset was successful...DONE
- Remove the II Bluetooth from your audio device’s Bluetooth list before pairing again...DONE

(2) Connect the speaker to your phone via Bluetooth:
- make sure the Bluetooth menu on your phone (device) is CLOSED...DONE
- set the source to Bluetooth...DONE
- push and hold in the source button until the Bluetooth LED Light is flashing...DONE
- open the Bluetooth menu on your phone (or device), find & select the speaker...DONE

(3) Attempt to update the speaker again, complete these steps in this order:
- update the app to the latest version...DONE[UpToDate]
- make sure your phone and device are next to each other...DONE, and
- make sure that the speaker is powered on and connected to your phone via Bluetooth...DONE
- attempt to complete the update again...FAILED

Let us know if this helps.

I purchased a Marshall MG30FX amp (Serial Number V011AA674U) Musician's Friend.  When I power on the amp in clean mode I get the Chorus effect even when FX is turned off.  I returned the amp to Musicians Friend and got a replacement. Same problem. Eventually, I discovered that turning the FX knob past the Chorus setting then back to "Off" shuts off the Chorus effect. Has anyone else experienced that problem? Thanks for your help.

Really frustrating, this is.  I'll be playing with the gain turned up to about 8 and I can watch as the dials in the app start to move on their own, as if a ghost is messing with it.  I can't find anyone asking this question.  Does anyone know how to get this ghost in the gateway app go away for good?

On my SC20 Head if I use the low sesitivity input jack and max the gain and master, the volume from the speakers is really low compared to the same settings with the same guitar in the high sesitivy jack. Certainly not a gig-able volume, is that how it should be?

It neary blows the windows out in the high input

Hi everyone,

I bought the new DSP module and plugged it into my Code 25. Everything seemed to be fine,

However, when I turned it on the code went into bootloader mode and said "chk usb". I inserted a cable and my PC saw it saying "connected". Still neither the marshall site not the PC application provide with possibility to update. The site shows no information and the PC app says that the last firmware version is installed and cannot reinstall it. When press reinstall button nothing happens.

I tried Mac, MS Edge and other browsers, nothing works

Any ideas?

Hello everyone! I have a Marshall 100 HDFX head with a 4x12 cabinet and when I rehearse with my band I have the typical problem of every guitarist, I can't hear my guitar! xD The typical solution is to turn up the volume, but playing in a group if we all apply that practice will end up exploding the place. I try to use my headphones at the same time my head is outputting sound through the 4x12 but I hardly hear anything. lack of power in the headphone output? or does it not work directly?

I would like to know if anyone has tried this before and opinions on it please.

Thanks in advance :)
