Could EL84 tubes be substituted in place of the EL34s if need be?  EL34s are becoming less available.

Hi,

New to the forum, and new to valve amps. I have just bought a Dsl20cr, and I've spent the last 40 mins on standby mode to allow the valves to warm up.

Unfortunately, I'm still not getting any sound out of the amp.

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Regards,

Karl

Hi,

I recently bought a used DSL40CR, so far so good.

I play a guitar with EMG 81 setup that works normally perfectly and got no issues with another amp.

When I play in clean channel (grean), pot setting about 1/3, the amp gives to much distortion, it almost souns like clean channel red.

Guitar is in very conditions, best mechanical setup and the electronics has been checked as well.

All tubes of the amp are new and BIAS setting adjusted to 35mV.

I don't know what else to check, could it be a grounding issue?

The amp has a very low noise what I assume is absolutely normal.

I can't play clean with this seup.

Anyone an idea what can cause this issue?

Regards

Hello Team,

I do have a couple of questions.

1. I have a DSL20CR and would like to upgrade the speaker to 8ohm. So if ever I install an 8ohm speaker and plug in the 1x8ohm at the back panel, would it be fine? I mean no issues that will be experienced in the transformer?

2. Furthermore, just recently bought a marshall DSL1hr (last weekend) and very happy with it. I just saw there is a cable included saying:  "Marshall PVC 0.85 sq mm x 2 cores wonderful vn (lf)"

Is this a speaker cable? I'm not comfortable using it before I confirm.

Thanks a lot.

I bought a DSL1CR as a practice amp recently, sound was cutting out so sent back and bought another replacement DSL1CR from another vendor.  Received the replacement -- same issue, sound cuts out.  Goes from a 4 to a 1-- then back again... round and round we go..  Have done troubleshooting w/ cable & guitar (brand new Fender Telecaster) -- those aren't the issue.  Thoughts?  I hate to return again-- love the sound... with the caveat: when it works;)

Any one else hearsd of this issue/ how to rectify?

Thanks!

Hello,

I've finally had time to sit down and play properly with my new Code 25.  There is a lot of fun to be had with this thing, however there are a few things that have became apparent with some of the models.

Pre-amp models "50s British" and "OD DSL" have really odd low frequency harmonics. To the point where both these pre amp models are pretty much  unusable. The default patches that use these settings are proof of this. To me it appear that its these patches that certain Youtuber's concentrated on when bad mouthing the amp online (and I can understand why). All the models have some amounts of digital artifacts, but these 2 models are unbeleivably bad.

Power-amp model "British Class A" seems too hot to me, not that I have an expert ear, but it is almost impossible to get a clean tone with that power amp regardless of what pre-amp you put in front of it and how low you set the pre-amp gain.
?
?
?

I understand that no modelling is perfect, but in general these 3 models just don't respond the same way as the other models on the amp.

OK. I'm aware that the Code 25 is a low cost practice amp, and I am fully prepared to just pretend these models dont exist and live with the other much better models on the amp. However in the spirit of reporting issues with the potential of improving the product then if these models can be fixed in the next firmware update (if there is one) then that would be great.

thanks

I have a Nov 2017 dsl 40 cr with pedl-90012 Footswitch. The effect loop is intermittently not foot switchable on the clean channel. I use a clean boost for solos through the loop. Works on dirty channel, not on clean channel. Footswitch effects loop led lights up,, but not on amp.  Both green channel leds.  I have the individual master volumes leds set for clean channel green, dirty channel red. And I have to push the loop button in and out most of the time to activate it.

Good day,  just want to make clear, once i had a power glitch (when i turned the amp on, power button was ok, but the channel and sound didn't appear and there was a click sound that at least it tried to) i noticed then that my power cable on the rear panel got loose a little so i set it properly and now always check the cables firstly before playing.  There are no problems anymore. So can a loose power cable be a culprit of such behavior? Is it dangerous for an amp? By the way there were no sparks or cracking sounds from the socket.

I have a few questions:

1. A DSL40CR or 100H has 5 output jacks 1x16, 1x8, 2x16, 1x4, 2x8.

Which output do you connect a 4x12 or 4x10 cab?

A friend has a 4x10 cab with 4 Fender V1030 30w 8 ohms speakers. I believe it comes from a Fender Hot Rod Deville. But I have researched and couldnt find an extension cab like this for a Hot Rod Deville online. It doent have a Fender logo plate on it or an info sticker on the back. It must be a clone someone built. Nevertheless it was built good. I opened the back and I didnt check how it was wired.

2. Can you run both speakers together, (4x12 or 2x12 cab with the 1x12 V type speaker it comes with?

3. And if so which outputs are the correct ones to connect.

Someone place help me I dont want fry my amp.

I have two identical Marshall DSL 100 watt heads. One of them was starting to crackle when I turned up volume on either clean or distortion channels. It  finally quit and assumed it was just dust in pod. However  a week ago turned amp head on and neither green light for clean channel or red light for distortion channel were coming on and no sound at all from either channel coming coming through speaker cabinet. Trying to get some help on what could possibly be wrong causing me to lose sound from amp head. Thanks

I noticed there is an emulated out on the back of the 20Watt Dsl head. From reading the .pdf manual, I understand that the head needs to stay connected to the speaker cabinet. So I know to never un-hook it, however - My questions being -

Do I need to be in Stand-By mode to actually use the headphones? If not, will the sound still come from the speaker cab?

Also, can I just plug my headphones directly into the Emulated Out? the .pdf manual says the Dsl20 Emulated Out supports Headphones. But I've seen people comment in other places that you need a headphone amp that increases volume or something. I haven't been able to test with headphones yet, and I kinda' wanna' get the right answer on this before I try. Thanks.

Loving the Amp and Speaker cab though haha. Just came in yestreday.

I have 3 combo amps each with a single 16 ohm speaker. baffles the heck out of me why Marshall would recommend a 2x12 8 ohm ext cabinet. I want to run both the internal speaker and the ext cabinet at the same time. I would like to put 8 ohm speakers in the combos to match the ext cabs. I have a JCM 2000 DSL 401, a DSL 40cr And an Origin 1x10 20 Watt. Can a16ohm speaker be upgraded with an 8 ohm speaker in these combos and if so what speakers would you recommend. Any additional suggestions or information is most welcome.

Can you please show me which jack i should use to plug my head into the cabinet. I have a new 2 weeks old, Marshall DSL 20 HR Head with the MX212RR Marshall cab. On the back of the head it has 3 jacks for to plug into the cabinet and i dont know which is the best. It has lines pointing to the OHM's but the lines dont line up with the different ohms and its hard to tell which one to use. Anyway of sending me a picture or explaining which jack i should use please. Ive looked every where, youtube, online googled and cant find any info on which jack to use from thr back of the head to plug into the speaker cabinet. Thank you

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not but maybe you’ll know the answer or where I can find it.

I’ve got a 100W Marshall DSL Head, not the JCM2000 series one but the series after that, and basically what’s happening is when I’m playing it will every now and then cut out, the channel indicator light will dim and go out along with the volume, this happens fairly regularly. And then just the other day it cut out but the channel light stayed on, with no sound, and I couldn’t change to the other channel. Turning the amp off and then back on “fixed” it but I’m sure it will happen again.

? ? Any suggestions  as to what it could be would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you time.

WARNING: When using the DSL1HR head
for ‘silent’ practice or DI recording ALWAYS
disconnect the speaker cabinet from the
amplifier’s rear panel before switching on.
NEVER unplug the speaker cable from the
speaker cabinet while it is still connected
to the amplifier rear panel. This may stress
the amplifier’s power-stage and in extreme
cases may lead to valve and/or transformer
failure.

Can i use an emulated out with the cab speaker plugged in?

Hi there! What can it be, when sometimes i turn on my amp the channels simply don't response, there is no led light and no sound. But when i plug a footswitch out, led and sound start to be functional. So it rarely occurs, but still occurs. Should i worry about it? Footswitch itself works properly by the way.

So it makes very low volume on the ultra gain channel. but when i turn my volume up all the way on the classic gain channel while im playing trough the ultra the volume is normal again. This is really weird and i have  no idea to fix this please help
