After about 3 months of very light usage (home use, ~20 hours), my Code 50 developed a harsh noise problem: https://youtu.be/S2cTK8fsfTE. It's on every preset and can be heard via the speaker and when using headphones. I tried using different guitars/cables/power cords/rooms/outlets, reloading firmware, and resetting the presets to factory default; but the noise continues.  Anything else I can try before I return it for replacement/warranty work?

Hey guys,

A couple questions.  I am trying to love this amp--it is compact, seems to have plenty of control, and I like how easily it connects to my computer.  The problem I have is similar to others:  I do not need a ton of volume and a lot of the sounds seem a bit muddy.  I've tried turning the preset volume way down and use Master and this works to an extent.

Some questions:

1) I noticed people talking about putting a Celestion G10 Greenback in it.  I'm planning on trying this.  I was going to go with 8ohm to save some volume but will the frequency range be a problem?  It seems like stock is a full range generic speaker likely so it can be more neutral for amp modeling and for music playback.  I do not need to play music through it..... and

2)  How bad will this mess up the presets?  Am I basically throwing presets out if I change the speaker?

3)  Has anyone modified the back of the amp to open it up?  I heard some asking about this and not sure if it is worth it.

Thanks, looks like others have been curious but have not heard anyone report in on actually doing this.  Love some feedback!!

The 100w head is not loud enough for me so can i run it into the return of a louder head , this would mean the louder head having the 4x12 connected + the code head would have no speaker connected , now i always thought that solid state amps do not require a load box but the manual says do not leave the speaker un connected , so can i run this way or do i need a load box even tho the amp is solid state ?

Hello,

I've had my code 25 for about a year and a half. After about 6 months sound from my amp speaker would stop after a few seconds after turning on the amp, however if I plug in the headphones it works fine through them, then if I pull out the headphones the speaker will sometimes work for a short while before stopping again.

After a few weeks of the sound not working, it will then start working fine for week or 2, before the sound stops again through the speaker.

It is not the cables or the guitar as I've tried multiple  on the same amp and they all work fine on my old amp, so I imagine it is a problem with the speaker/headphone socket?

Is there a simple fix for this or will it need to be returned under warranty?

I was wondering if the creator of the KASHMIR preset would be interested in also creating the FLANGER part for KASHMIR using all the current preset settings (amp, cabinet, speaker etc) as a complimentary preset for the turnaround section of the song.  I believe, from forums, that a preset will switch better (Marshall CODE footswitch) if the preset has the same amp, speaker and or cabinet setting as it takes away the millisecond delay of switching between amps in a particular preset.  Look forward to your answer and or creation of said beasty.

Regards Kev

I know that turning a "TUBE" amp on without a speaker load on the output will damage the amp.

(the no-load condition will cause the output voltage to increase until the output tubes burn out, which can then lead to other component  damage)

Is this also true for a CODE 100 amp?  Is there a risk of damage to the output section, with turning the unit on without a speaker cab load connected?

Would it be safe to operate the amp with just headphones connected instead of a speaker cab?

Would it be safe to operate the amp without either a speaker cab or headphones connected?

I ask because my computer (which is a desktop) is in a different location in my house than my amp.

Doing firmware updates or testing out patches requires either moving my computer or my amp, both of which are very inconvenient.

It would be much easier if all I had to move was the head.

I recide to open my code 50 cabinet. It was not just a simple sound change matter. For me this cabinet is the low point in the project. With this upgrade I believe now th speaker moves freely. Of coarse you have all those open cabinets advantage, more crystallinity, less punch low freequencies, more spacial sound distribution (less directionality)... For me the stage effect was quite positive. Some time ago I was really deciding to kick it out but now I am very satisfied with this little amp.

Is the CODE™412 4x12-inch Angled Electric Guitar Speaker Extension Cabinet discontinued? If so, then why? I did purchased one 2 years ago.

My online dealer no longer has it listed; instead, they have listed, the CODE™212 2x12-inch Angled Electric Guitar Speaker Extension Cabinet ― which I do plan on buying ― however, I still would like to purchase another CODE™412.

I did this binaural test on YouTube and at the same volume, nothing changed volume-wise, the right speaker was quieter than the left. I just got this amp like a week ago and I figured something was off about it. What should I do? Send it back? I got it through amazon and I think the return policy is still available. But I would like another one, just not kinda broken. I can make a video if need be.

So I've been thinking about buying a Celestion F12-X200 speaker for my code 50 and was wondering it this would work. The reason I need to know this is because even though I know you can use an 8ohm speaker on a 4ohm tube amp, I'm not sure about a digital amp. Could anyone tell me if this is possible.

I'm using USB on my Mac and the Mac sees the Code and allows me to set the speaker to it.
When I pull up a Youtube video and start it the video will play for about 5 seconds and then halts.
It's almost like something else is intercepting it. It basically locks up and I have to close the browser.

Same issue when using the Code 25 as input device on Mac for Garage Band. It recognizes it but when I record
upon playback the sounds are scratchy and unusable

This Code 25 works on my Windows Machine both ways as Input and Output device flawlessly

I have installed the latest firmware so that is not the issue.

Any ideas on what it might be causing the problem on the Mac?

Hello, I've had my code 50 for about a year and a half. A few months ago I noticed my amp would stop projecting any noise a few seconds after i would turn on the amp, i found it weird because when i play with my headphones plugged in it works fine but when the signal passes through the speaker it stops making any noise, just completely shuts off.

It isnt the cables or the guitar as I've tried multiple on the same amp, so I imagine it is a problem with the speaker, anything I can do?

Can the speakers be upgraded on the Code 412 cabinet?  If so, is it something a person can do who’s never changed a speaker before, or would it need professional installation?
