Due to an older brother, I began really listening to The Marshall Sound as early as 1972. Then he gave me my first guitar in 1976. I wouldn't put it down and learned open chords, power chords, scales, etc.  Of course, seeing and hearing live from shows from KISS in 1977, and Ozzy with Randy Rhoades, through Def Leppard and many many others, but it was AC/DC's Back In Black, Hells Bells that did it for me. I found a full, used stack around 1984, and I was lucky the lady dealt with me, gave me a break and let me pay it out. Since I have owned different amps (Fender Vibroverb Custom with the Diaz mods, Peavey, etc), but I have also owned the 150W AVT, and even the cheaper, solid state MDFX 100W. These never came close to my first.

I JUST purchased a DSL100HR, I guess the new, revamped model. I love all the features, however, the footswitch reminds me of the MDFX or HDFX that has two buttons only on it. When I went to Marshall's main site, I found that the MIDI port is for a fantastic footswitch, which would allow me to do many, many things, without having to stop and turn knobs in the middle of a song.

Where can I purchase one of these and for how much?  I live in Texas, in the United States.  I had to sell the no longer in production Vibroverb Custom with the Cesar Diaz mods, which was my Pride and Joy (I met Stevie Ray Vaughan after a show on October 8, 1983, in South Dallas, and we began talking about Hendrix, he literally had to be pulled from me).

Please let me know where, how much, and how I can get one of these, please.

A Loyal Marshall Amplification Fan & Player Since 1984

HI ,

I`m trying to use my BOSS Gt-100 as a Midi controller to change channels on my JHS410H.

It works...but sometimes amplifier doesn`t change a channel.

Looks that it`s amp fault, because gt100 sends PC messages on each press.

I think that JVM gets sometimes confused because all messages out of GT100 comes in formula: 2xCC+1xPC.

Could you advice how to deal with it? Is there any option to change a firmware on JVM midi module  to make communication more realiable?

Thanks.

Hello!

I just got the upgraded DSL40cr.  I love it.  But my question is on Midi.  I have used midi before, but with this amp can I use my Line 6 m9 multi effects unit which has midi implementation and assign different effects to different channels with this amplifier?

Hello, I would like to connect one of my PCs (OS linux) on a Marshall CODE 50 and take control via usb midi.

When I open /etc/dmmidi2 in read acces. Reading file char by char, I see information when I touch the buttons of the amp (PREFX, AMP, MOD, ...). I can find the information in CODE-Midi-Implementation-Chart-V2.1.pdf.

I usually get two or three bytes and cross it with the document.
But this frame is not in the form Start of Transmission> Header> Command> End of Transmission.

By against when I open /etc/dmmmidi2 in write access, I can not send any command.
After having turned on the amp, I sent the following sequence for RECALL PRESETS 05:
0xF0 0x00 0x21 0x15 0x7F 0x7F 0x7F 0x73 0x01 0x05 0xF7
or RECALL CURRENT SETTINGS:
0xF0 0x00 0x21 0x15 0x7F 0x7F 0x7F 0x72 0x01 0x00 0xF7
Start of Transmission> Header> Command> End of Transmission
This command does not seem to work. Is there an intermediary step?

Would it be possible to give me a typical sequence to the CODE or a document that will explain the procedure to operate (ON / OFF) one of the button (PREFX, AMP, MOD, ...) of the amp.
Thank you in advance.
Cordially.

Hello,

i switch through my presets with  the Marshall PEDL-91009, however, this pedalboard only has 3 switches and a bank switch, however i would like to have a pedalboard with more than 3 preset switch button for faster recall ... is there a solution (maybe via MIDI) , or a compatible footswitch that i am unaware of?

Hey all - new to the forums, new to Marshall amps and had a few questions about the Code 50 I just ordered that will be here in a day or so.  I have played my guitars through my buddy's Code 50 and am familiar with editing the patches, tweaking the tones and getting the sounds that I want from the amp to fit my playing style.  What I am not familiar with is the use of footswitch and any Midi capabilities it may have.

1) Can one use just a regular on/off type of old school footswitch to turn an effect or amp on/off or initiate a patch change?  I have several old school footswitches I have successfully used on many different amps, albeit older amps, and it has always worked.  Curious since the Marshall footswitch actually holds presets if anything like that would work.

2) As far as Midi goes, I come from a Line6 multi-effects world and know that many of their multi-effect units have the capability to control effects on/off/parameters and patch/bank switching via Midi commands.  Does the Code software have anything like that if hooked up to a PC/Mac running a DAW that has the capability to send midi control commands to change patches/effects realtime during recording/playback.

Thanks for any input and excited to get this amp.  I am a player of over 30 years and have only ever played through Crate amps for the past 20+ years that have finally given up and the cost to repair is more than new.  Bash Crate all you want but they were loud and proud and with the right EQ/effects loops made some damn good musical sounds.

How do I set up my new CODE50 USB to my CUBASE9? "CODE" shows up in CUBASE Inspector for MIDI Tracks, but no signal.

Do I need a CODE driver?

Does the CODE50 USB only send MIDI?

Does it send audio waveform signals?

I viewed a couple of Marshall video tutorials that didn't help and it says practically nothing in the download manual.

Thanks, Kevin

Hello,

I have a problem with connecting a TC Electronics G-System to my JVM 410HJS. The way described in the manual does not work. Preset switching is not possible. The Midi channels have been matched to Ch 1 according to the manual but programming is not working. The JVM doesn't receive messages (no fast blinking). Does the G-System not send useable midi data at all?

Thank you in advance!

hi

firstly, i am disappointed with the code.  this amp seems like its still at test phase, its to buggy for a release.  would expect marshall to only release a new product unless its 100% reliable.

connecting ios devices to code is always problematic. very unstable.

my main problem now is updating firmware.  cant update in chrome. i have midi capability approved for marshall but keep getting midid disabled error even though i clearly have midi enabled.

tried opera, and the midi is working and the code is coming up as connected. i get as far as a message stating that firmware is updating with a status bar and percentage marker. doesnt update! stays at 0% and never moves. left it overnight and still 0% when i woke.

i have spent more time messing about with the problems with this amp than playing guitar. do i need to sell this and just buy a guitar interface? maybe

also, when using this amp through garageband there is no dedicated clean preset to use with garageband or other AU. basically it goes into garageband with a marshall preset and then the other AU preset is on top of the marshall preset. ideally this amp should include a straight clean unprocessed preset to work with other software AU's.  i really do think people need to consider a good quality guitar interface before purchasing this amp. its very restricitve and unreliable. if you are not gigginG i dont see the point in this amp.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THE FIRMWARE ISSUE ASAP!

I just want to check with fellow CODE users if they are facing the same issues that I am dealing with.

Biggest (and most annoying) issue is, it's a matter of luck connecting the CODE through USB. 2 times out of 10 my pc recognizes the amp the first time I plug it in. Mostly it gives an error that device is not connected properly or not recognized by windows. So I end up unplugging and plugging again until (if ever) it's been recognized. (Using windows 8.1 btw) Then suddenly in the middle of a recording session my DAW starts to drag like if I am running on a PC Pentium 600.  (It's running on a 3000$ alienware) This is a sign that somehow CODE get disconnected itself.  Now you have only option left: Restart the PC and start all over again.

So far I have checked with different USB cables, and I am using the shortest ones as possible as I can. (less than 80 cm.) I can't check with another pc since I don't have another one, but I am running Yamaha THR-10 smoothly, without any problems at all!

So I don't believe that there's an issue with my pc. And speaking of THR, why the hell CODE doesn't have it's dedicated USB drivers. I am kind of sure that the issue I am facing is all about the ASIO drivers that we are left with as an only option.

Second issue is, maybe only 1 out of 20 times I am able to get any presets from web site. Even if it looks like CODE is connected in the Device Manager, and the Chrome (or Opera) says MIDI is connected, I can't send any presets to the amp. After a few tries, this ends up with web browsers got frozen and only option is again: restart your pc!

I really would like to hear from people who are facing similar issues and how they could get over with it. (if they ever could)

And hopefully the only answer I receive from Marshall team is not going to be: "Thanks for your feedback, we will pass this to our technical team"

 Regards,

Hi all!

I want to change the MIDI-Channel from Channel #1 to Channel #16 on my JVM 215c.

Like in the manual described, I switched off the JVM, pressed and hold the MIDI-programm-switch and switched on the JVM. But when I release the MIDI-programm-switch, the LED did not start to flash and the amplifier did not detect any MIDI-message. From now on the amplifier detected no MIDI-message. Also not the MIDI-program-change-commands on Channel #1!

I had to do a factory reset and (of course) all MIDI-Presets were erased and the amplifier works again on MIDI-channel #1!

Do you know, which mistake I made?
Is there any other reset to do?
Is there any chance to solve this problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

Best wishes
Roland

Hi! I'm using the Jmp-1 midi rack-preamplifier and I'm loving it so much, except the fact it takes about half a second to jump from preset to preset, which in a studio situation is no problem, but in a live situation can be annoying sometimes.

Is it just my device having this problem? Any way to fix this?

thanks! Elias

Hello!

Have a 6100LM three channel head. The footswitch that comes with the amp is huge - it takes up a large amount of space of my pedal board and I only really use it 3-4 times during a set (swapping from crunch to clean and back, never really use the lead channel). Does anyone know of a smaller replacement footswitch that could do the job? I only really need "channel up/down". I know the head has midi switching but this kind of thing is not my strong point......

Appreciate any help I can get!
Best
