Just bought a brand new Code 25 amp that was delivered by courier. It sounds great in play but there is a relatively loud constant hum from the speaker from about 5 seconds after switch on. Even with no guitar attached. is this normal?

Also something is rattling inside when I tilt the cabinet side to side. I'm worried it may have been damaged in transit. Maybe these two issues are related?

Anyone have any thoughts or advice. Not sure I can face sending it back to the seller as although I bought it off a .co.uk website it actually shipped from Poland.

On the Gateway app I can playback very little music. I can easily play music with iTunes (Bluetooth) but I am referring to using the playback feature. I have tried to playback 50-60 songs, some of it is purchased but all of it is downloaded. Why do only certain songs work. This is a huge issue for me and one of the main reasons I bought the Code 100H and 212 cabinet.

Hi, I am trying to find out any more about my JTM45 amp. I have owned this for over 45 years,  i have never made any changes to it.

Something that always puzzled me is the lack of any serial number on the rear panel.  I cant see why anyone would have made a new chassis, but there are extra unused holes and i can make out where someone has scratched on the type of valves  in each position. I am assuming its probably late 1963 as it doesnt have the 'coffin' lable but is a two tone cabinet as per the early kind. Also the knobs are different to others i have seen.

Also i can find no record of the model of speaker cabinet that i assume is also a Marshall cabinet, 2 x 12" speakers. Sadly the original Celestion speakers are long gone (my fault!)  I have seen one reference to an extension cabinet or boutique cabinet that looked similar, how ever it looks like the Marshall badge was at an angle on mine, though it was missing when I bought the cabinet.

Any help for the above would be great, many thanks, Martin

Hi Marshall team,

so now I know I can use my origin 20 head without any cabinet connected, taking the sound from the DI out.

But my question is...can I use it with the master volume at 6-7 (1-2 o'clock), to get tube breakup point and creamy sound, like I usually do when the head is connected (through an attenuator) to the cabinet?

Is it safe to crank the volume (max 6-7) when using just the internal dummy load?

Please let me know, THANKS

Hi Marshall team, my ORI20H says on the back 'CONNECT SPEAKERS BEFORE USE'.

So, is it wrong? I read in the forum that it has an internal dummy load, so that it can be also used without the speaker connected, for example putting in the Di/out: the headphone jack or a mono instrument cable to an audio interface/multitrack recorder/pa/mixer.

So, no need to connect the cabinet? IS IT SAFE?

Thanks and regards

Hi, Do someone know if the "custom voiced" speakers on a CODE 4x12 8ohm cabinet are the same as in the mg412a cabinet ? The mg cab is loaded with celestion g12-412mg 8ohm speakers that look like celestion rocket 50 but seem to be rated at 30 watts ... because the cab is rated 120w... some AVT cabs are loaded with celestion g12-412avt and some with celestion rocket 50 but AVT cabs are 16ohm (maybe the cause of suffixes change on the g12..) I've browsed  the celestion website to find some answer and the only one that had the same magnet is the rocket 50 and is rated to 50 watts... i would like to know what kind of speakers are on the CODE cab and if the mg412a cabinet sounds about the same as the CODE 412 cab with a CODE 100h head ...i don't like the format of the CODE cab...but want to keep all the tone modeling capabilities of the CODE 100w head

I have just received my first ever Head Amp. So very excited about it. My question, is it totally unadvisable, to test out the headphone socket without connecting up a cabinet to the head amp?

I was hoping to test before  obtaining a cabinet  (212 I had in mind).

However it does not advise using it without a cabinet connected. Is there a risk in blowing up the circuitry otherwise?

Thanks for taking the time reading this.

Hallo,

cannot find any technical detail on this speaker. I would like to know the Sensitivity (is it 100db as the Vintage 30?) and the Frequency response diagram as well for the 16 Ohm type. I'm gonna to buy a 1936V 2x12 speaker cabinet and I would get these information, please.

thank you.

cheers

Manual says "Connect a single speaker cabinet here for the DSL1HR head". Is it means I can't use cabinet with two 8ohm speakers in series?

Hi folks!

My brand new DSL20HR has a great sound with my MX212AR cabinet, but when I want to plug it on my mixtable with the emulated output the sound is very bad.

I've tried it on the STB position with my speaker plugged. The sound is bad even with the headphone : a lot of hum and the volume should be at the max.

There was a lot of highlights on these feature :

"Marshall has teamed up with software mavens Softube to create exceptional tones "

I don't understand it can work so bad. I really can't use it and I many other users that seem to have the same problem.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.

Hi, can anyone explains to me WHY we can't use a CODE 100H without the cabinet? For VALVE amps there is a good reason for which you need the cabinet always connected but for solid state amps it seems very strange.

Is it maybe an error in the manual? Maybe it's a phrase that has been written for all the Marshall valve heads and it was mistakenly added to the CODE as well?

Please let me know, I have an application where I only need the 100H coming up soon.

Thanks!

Hello I'm considering to buy DSL1HR or CR for silent recording at home. But I would like to use fx loop SEND output to record raw valve soud to apply impulse response later.

Is it safe to unplug cabinet, and without connecting headphones use these amps in such manner?

And if so, why? Usually valve amp needs speaker load

Thank you in advance for the answare!
