Hi

I’m trying to decide which amp to get. My ultimate goal is to get out there and start gigging. I love big, dumb rock songs and have more or less narrowed down my search to a JCM 800. Here’s where my dilemma comes in.

For the same price, I can get either 1990 JCM 800 (50 watt) and a 1960A cab of indeterminate year or the little SC20 amp and cabinet.

Since I want to start gigging out, I am leaning toward the full-sized amp, with worries that it might be too loud even. However, since most of my playing is at home, I like the idea of the lower powered SC20. The one I played sounded super good at around-the-house levels. I am worried it won’t suffice if I try to gig with it. I have never played through an 800. (Or any half stack, for that matter. Right now my main amp is a Deluxe Reverb.)

So I guess what I want to know is which one is the better option for me? Do I prioritize stage volume or home volume? Does anyone even need a big, loud amp nowadays, or is a smaller, miked-up amp better in the long run?

Looking at online forums, a lot of people appear to have a hard time getting a decent sound. Here's some tips that work for me, using a strat

1. Treble on 4, for everything. Presence on 1 for clean, 0.5 for dirty. Resolution on 5

2. Bass on 4 for american clean preamp, 6-8 for all others

3. Middle on 2 for clean, 5 for dirty

4. When using the onboard distortion pedal for blues keep the drive low = 1-2. Set amp gain at about 3 or 4

Hope this helps

I have the original Marshall Stanmore. It's wired direcly to both a turn table and a CD Player. The sound recently began cutting out intermittenly. I hear a bit of static, the audio cuts out, and then a few seconds later, the sound comes back. I've been using the same setup for about a year with no issues.

Any ideas?

I bought a DSL1CR as a practice amp recently, sound was cutting out so sent back and bought another replacement DSL1CR from another vendor.  Received the replacement -- same issue, sound cuts out.  Goes from a 4 to a 1-- then back again... round and round we go..  Have done troubleshooting w/ cable & guitar (brand new Fender Telecaster) -- those aren't the issue.  Thoughts?  I hate to return again-- love the sound... with the caveat: when it works;)

Any one else hearsd of this issue/ how to rectify?

Thanks!

I have a Woburn II speaker and I've paired it to my HP Envy Laptop but I keep seeing a LOW BATTERY message. I see that the device is paired but cannot play via bluetooth because of LOW BATTERY. The speaker doesn't have a battery.

Hello and greetings Marshall.

I have a Code 100 Combo. For this price is a great Marshall sounding amp.

But!!

Is harsh, but i use an external 7 WAY EQ pedal in loop and the sound with it , will be realy useful.

I have a Boss Katana too and has in built EQ effect. This Marshall Code series is very close to real Marhsall amps, form my opinion i think it's closer that Katana.

Why not is in Marshall CODE an EQ pedal effect, or an switchable 7 or 10 way EQ option  ??

I think what is most missing from the Code series is a usable 7-10 way eq pedal. Would it solve the harshness, the fizzyness.

I think it could be a great practice combo. with a more original Marshall sound than any Katana.

Please Marshall, include an EQ pedal or a switchable 7- or 10 way EQ option in an update as soon as possible.

Please :) !

let this product be worthy of the Marshall brand, or products.

Thanks.( Sorry for my English:)).

Best Regards, Rob.

Hi all:

Love the code.  BUT had a couple of basic questions( I think).  THANKS for any answers the community may provide!

1)  Does creating my own preset overwrite the one I've selected?

- Is there a means to KEEP all 100 and simply add my own library or presets?

2) Is there a base preset that is the AMP in its essential or basic state from which I can build new presets?

I've come from a long line of Marshalls,  Most of which are the kind that you just turn knobs and make sounds!

While using the Marshall Gateway App on my iPhone 7 or SE (I'm assuming this happens on other iPhone models as well),  the "Playback" page automatically defaults to "Apple Music" when I want to add tracks to jam to with my Code 50 amplifier.

My question for Marshall Support is: Can you make the iPhone Gateway App allow selections of tracks from locations other than "Apple Music" on the "Playback" page?

It would be great to be able to select tracks from my other files like "One Drive" or "Files".  Your competitors like the Boss GT-1 and the Spark 40 allow tracks to be added from ANY location when using their jam-along features. Limiting your choice to "Apple Music" really limits the jam-along experience on your app.

Thank you for considering making this useful update to your iPhone app.

Always feel modeling amps lack the punch, the pick attack of an analog amp, but the CODE 100 does a good job, but it still sounds a bit like you are listening to a guitar track on a song instead of a live guitar performance.  Thats not a bad thing, the sound is smooth, it is clean, but it is different.   The cleanness of the sound is interesitng actually, the notes are far more distinct,  far less mushy and makes you play much cleaner.

Thi is in comparison to my IValve King 212 with messa boogie pre amp,  and 6L6  power valves.   Have had it years, but havent been able to get the solo tone I want out of it, it has always sounded harsh, though the messa boogie valves helped.  This is where the  CODE 100 excells, the solo tones are very clear with none of the noise, so tapping for example stantds out very nicely, whereas with the Peavey it was feeding back and very noisy at the levels needed to get any volume.

After a couple of days playing, the Plexi with gain is my preferd rythym sound and marshall fury with the reverb removed my prefered solo sound.

Not gigged it,  we are just a jamming group made up of ex band members and having a once a week laugh,  but I can imagine the amp would be fine in any pub type venue.

I will try it using the Peavey speakers over the weekend,   see what difference that makes.

Hello, I bought a Marshall Code 25 a few weeks back and it was working perfectly until I tried connecting it to a PC today using the USB port. The amp is just not showing up anywhere and the PC doesn't detect a new device either.

I've tried :

- Downloading the firmware update software (current version 1.44) to see if it would detect the amp (it did not)

- Using two different cables and two different PCs

- Restarting the amp and reconnecting the cable on both ends

Not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I should be doing next so help would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I recently just got my Code 25 after many months of waiting for it to be back in stock. I'm loving it! There is so much to play with and so many different tones to explore.

I connected it to my phone and I love the feature of adjusting the settings with my phone. However, when I tried to download presets from the website, it won't let me.

I just wanted to ask, must the amp be plugged into a PC/Laptop in order to download the presets from the website or can this be done with just your phone?

The only reason I ask, is my laptop is very outdated and given that you can do everything on a tablet or phone these days, Iv'e never had the need to buy a new one.

Any help would be great as Iv'e some awesome looking presets I would love to try out.

Thanks.

I have read, when using the direct out there is no need to have a cabinet connected to the head.

My question is: is this in general or only when the direct out is engaged?

I would like to slave another amp from the effects send, without using a cabinet connect to the origin 50 head.

I wonder if the dummy loads is always on

I have Marshall CODE50 and PEDL-91010 (2-way switch). I have the latest 1.44 firmware update installed, but my pedal does not work properly. For some reason when I press the switch to go down a preset it goes up a preset or just does nothing. Sometimes it works, but that does not happen very often. I've opened the footswitch and the circuit seems too simple to be faulty and by the way my amp acts when I press the down switch it looks like it is the problem with the firmware.

Hi,

I have two Marshall Stanmore Multiroom speakers and I keep having issues with streaming music. I've contacted support multiple times and while they are friendly and try to help as best as they can, I still don't have a solution.

The setup is the following: my two Stanmore Multiroom speakers are in the same room, about 6 meters apart from each other. I have saved a couple of online radio stations and spotify playlists on the devices. The wireless router (a Fritzbox with 2.4GHz and 5GHz enabled) is in the same room, 2 meter from the first Stanmore, 4 meters from the other.

The problem: When streaming music, half the time it's crackling. By crackling I mean the sound similiar to someone touching the needle of a record player. This is very annoying and not something you want with a speaker you paid €450 for... Now, as both these speakers have this problem, I thought my network was not sufficient. Speedtests (while the crackling is occurring) show I get about 200Mbps down and 30Mbps up. I even bought the Fritzbox to place in the same room to try and solve this problem.

On the 5GHz network, both speakers only have a signal strength of 25%-45%. On the 2.4GHz network, both speakers get 55%-60%. The crackling occurs on both networks. There is no other wifi network in my surroundings using the same channel, this can be checked on the Fritzbox. This seems to be a very low signal strength while the router is in the same room, with no blocking walls...

The online streams and spotify lists don't have any issues when I listen to them on my phone/laptop, only on the Stanmores.

The last thing support said was to send the speakers to repairs, but I have read the instructions and when they don't find an issue, I need to pay for their work. I would like to make sure I have two faulty speakers before I would return these. Are there any solutions I haven't tried yet? The thing that worries me is that these Stanmore Multirooms are no longer in production... Is this a known problem?

I hope someone can help me with this frustrating issue... Thanks in advance!

I have tried using a Boss DD-3 in the effects loop but I can hear a significant drop in volume and tone when the loop is engaged. If I remove the pedal and just have a patch cable going from the send to return, there is no volume or tone loss when the loop is engaged. If I move the DD-3 to the front of the amp there is also no volume or tone loss. Why can't I use this pedal in the effects loop?

I have an issue with tap tempo on the Code 25 with 1.45 firmware and wondered if anyone else has the same issue.  The manual says you should "press MOD and DEL selection switches together". When I do that the amp does indeed go into tap tempo mode (tap the selector switch to set tempo), but regardless of how quick I press the buttons or if I hold down one and then hit the other it always switches on the MOD module too. The other double combination switches (tuner and bluetooth) dont do this and work as expected and only switch on those functions without switching on or off any other modules.

I need to change the order of the presets as needed, but the Gateway application does not allow changing the position of each preset in memory.
I don't want to overwrite presets by saving to other stots, I just want to change the order of each preset.
Is there another way to perform this operation?
MyGateway does not synchronize with the hardware, it only sends it to the hardware.
My CODE presets do not appear on MyGateway.
