Hi, does code 25 works with Tonebridge app on Android, connected by irig 2?
In case Marshall decides to do another round of Codes, or for people that want to buy one, here is my bottom line after dealing with this thing for a few years. I had Line 6 experience and wanted a simpler all-in-one modeling combo with a bluetooth app that could do hard rock. The Katana looked like a toy so I bought this.
PROS: Solid construction. Looks great. Good range of amps and effects. Bluetooth app is very good and can tune every parameter. Tones can be downloaded and backed up to/from Marshall site. Amp can sound very good (after a lot of tweaking). The Plexi, American OD, JTM Crunch and Acoustic amps are good. The Guv’nor, Compressor, Chorus, noise gate and all the delays and reverbs are useable. Marshall has done sufficient software updates to correct early issues (bluetooth, tones, bugs). Can be used at bedroom volume with Master on ‘1’. Optional footswitch gives good control. Documentation is good. Updater software on PC works well.
CONS: Other than those mentioned above, all the other amps and effects are bad. This includes the JCM800, JVM and Silver Jubilee. All the cabs are bad. None of the stock patches are usable. You have to make your own. There are user uploaded patches you can try but very few are usable. Learning curve is significant. The amp is too loud. When you turn up from bedroom level to louder, the sounds change and become very boomy which should not happen with a modeling amp. No effects loop. The ‘out’ is a mini USB. Connecting to a computer requires a mini USB to USB or Lightning cable, which is not included. I tried to use the USB to record to Garageband and sound came out but I couldn’t make it sound good. The footswitch also has a learning curve, and like other people I had to have mine replaced.
ADVICE: Don’t buy it. I bought my Code 50 new from Sweetwater for $299 and now the same version of the amp is $399. If you must have a Code, get the 25 instead. It is cheaper and still absurdly loud. The higher volume available in the 50 is useless because it sounds bad. The extra hundred bucks just gets you painfully loud solid state power amp watts.
If you do get a Code, upgrade all the firmware immediately. You need to connect to a computer to do this, but first you have to find the cable on Amazon. This is unforgivable.
BOTTOM LINE: I have spent too many hours tweaking the Code. This is what I hated about Line 6. But the Line 6 tones were superior. I never got a good JCM 800 sound out of the Code, after hundreds of hours of work. It’s only “great” amp sim, oddly, is the American OD. Marshall’s own Classic Metal patch uses this, not a “Marshall” sim! The Code is marketed as Marshall technology with amp sims created by Marshall, but it is not. Softube created the software and tones. This is not a Marshall amp. Line 6 Marshall sims are far better.
I have now bought a tube amp. I am keeping the Code because I have mastered it and can practice on it but I would not buy it again, certainly not for $399.
Hi,
I know that this is a recurrent demand, but please, no more "control the volume using Gateway app" answers, everybody knows that this is a component issue, not a software need for update or anything. The fact is that master volume pots are either low quality ones, or defective manufacturing components. So, all I need to know are the specs of this component (resistance values, taper, etc.) so I can purchase the correct component and replace it myself. Also, understand that I live in a place where there is no authorized Marshall servicing, and my Code amp is over three years old, therefore without any warranty. Again, please no more "send equipment to an engineer" answers, I have enough ability to do the work myself. A good thing would be if you make available the schematic diagrams of the Code amps, but I think that might be not possible. or you would have done it a long time ago.
Thank you in advance for your attention! Marshall Code RULES! But without that scratchy pot...
Best Regards,
amp powers on and presets all show up and change. sound just cut out! appears like petal display still changes buut no sound at all. jjust stopped in the middle of the song. ran a firm update and reset to factory...nothing
I don't want to always use my phone when playing. There used to be a way to save presets directly in the amp but I can't seem to do it anymore. These past updates have really screwed up the code amp for me. It doesn't seem like any of the support videos are accurate any longer.
Does anyone know if the Valvestestate 2000 line of amps have an unbalanced or blanaced emulated DI out? Also, does anyone know if this DI out is line level or instrument level? I'm assuming unbalanced and line level, but if anyone has a definitive answer, it would be really helpful! One other question about the DI out: Does the volume knob – not the gain knob – of the amp affect the volume level of the DI out?
Can't believe Marshall didn't answer these questions in the manuals! Those Valvestate 2000 manuals are awful, only the most basic of information is given.
One thing up front: I love my Code 100C (have two of them), it gives me all tonal possibilities I need, and it never let me down, even not with any bluetooth-issues.
What I really miss is an xlr-out to the mixer or any other possibility "direct-out" other than micing the amp (the headphone/line-out is no option since the amp is quiet then). This lack became annoying, so I decided to get an external multi-fx-board.
Deciding between Helix, Boss and others in the mid-price-range (a Kemper is way beyond what I need) I finally decided for the Valeton GP-200, having read only positive reviews - and the price of 350 € is unbeatable for what it offers. Sound- and effects-quality is great (for my purposesat at least), and going in the return-jack of my 100C spares the 100C-modulation-section to give me the pure sound of the GP-200. And it sounds great with the 100C, no need to change speakers.
Sorry to say: I wouldn't have changed my setup if the 100C had a direct-out, and I'll keep both of my 100Cs, but for the future the combination of the 100C and the GP-200 is my go-to-equipment - although I really like(d) the modelling of the amp (that said again!).
Gateway version 1.5.5 (Wireless Bluetooth selection from the set list, playback selection)
I bought CODE 25 because of its services.
This wasn't made for a concert, but it was great for practice. It took a lot of work to set up the sounds and I was able to play music to my liking with the help of my mobile phone. Now, against my will, version 2 is here, which does not know these things. It was difficult to download the 1.5.5 version again because I like it, but the next day I have the 2nd version on my phone again and this has happened several times. What right do they have to overwrite my phone's settings?
How could I use my favorite amp and settings again to my heart's content, because that's what I paid for, I worked for. If there is a new version, anyone who likes it can use it, but why prevent those who like the old version from continuing to use the system that was created with a lot of effort. This is why I can't return the amplifier! I am waiting for an urgent reply!George
When I follow the instruction for a factory Reset on my Code 50,
==Hold the AMP button while powering on. Once the screen for the reset process shows on the screen, firmly hold the STORE button to confirm factory reset until the screen shows “CONFIRMED”
===
The Presets then are NOT the factory presets, but what I had put in the AMP preset list, with my modifications.
Not visible change has taken place to the list...
What can cause this?
I don't understand that upgrade with less options.
My app upgraded automatically without give me posibility if I wanted this version. I use much playback and tuner, I don't seem better the last version.
This version is more beautiful visually but less functional.
I want the old version
>:-|
my footswitch forgot the presets...can i gig with this thing? i can't have that happen... i set up a1, a2, a3 and b1, b2, b3, now its just flashing?
Or is the the app. screwing it up?
this is looking more complicated than user friendly...
please help!

It appears my adroid device updated the Gateway app, but it seems I'm not having any luck finding the tuner feature. Does this new version not include the tuner? Thanks! 🤘
Omg my code 50 as just completely lost any sound no Bluetooth, no headphones, no amp what the flip is going on I've updated firmware hundred times reset amp hundred times and nothing dead as a door nail all lights and functions on amp work OK just no sound please please please help.
So I have had a new CODE25 for about four months, and two weeks ago it suddently started to go silent after playing a few minutes. No sound at all, very suddenly. Lights all still on, screen on (though maybe dimmed), and it won't recover until I power it down and restart--and then it may or may not play for a few minutes more after that. Didn't seem like an overheating issue (I rarely play that loud, and at the time I was using a sweet clean preset).
I've updated the firmware and still have the problem. I'm in Hawaii, and I'm not sure there's a Marshall warranty place here to do any work on it. Am I stuck returning it? Is this a common problem?
I absolutely love this thing, I'd hate to have to abandon it for poor dependability reasons.

Bought a new DSL40CR in December of 2020 and last month it blew the 630 MA fuse on the PCB. Replaced fuse and swapped out all tubes. Now amp only works on 40 watt but has a lot less volume and does not sound like it did. The PCB has spots around CAPS that look burnt. Any suggestions? Can you purchase the PCB?
Dealer where I purchased not very helpful when I went to them to question about warranty, they kept trying to sell me a new amp, not Marshall and said I would have to pay any and all costs if it was repairable.
Really liked the amp when working correctly but am concerned that this would happen again if I purchase another one. 1 year and 3 months and total failure????
Marshall has restored my confidence in their product. They contacted me same day and gave me a list of where to take my amp for warranty repairs. The amp has 3 year parts/5 year labor warranty. Will update again when repairs are complete.

I purchased a second DSL40cr amp and got my originalback from the shop. Took my repaired amp home before Memorial Day Holiday and so far it is doing great.
Again want to thank the people at Marshall for making this happen once I explained the problem.
I have several custom presets in my Gateway (via my PC at my.marshall.com). I synchronized my PC with the Gateway App on my Android phone and all the new presets show up (so far, so good). The problem is that when I turn on the Code 100 amp, all of my presets (in the Gateway Library on my phone) get reset to the default presets.
If I turn off the amp and re-sync, all of my custom presets show up again. When I turn on the amp, they all get reset to default values.
I updated the firmware on my CODE 100 and tried several different startup configurations, but nothing works.
Why is the amp overwriting the presets on my Gateway App?
This issue is driving me crazy. My Code 50 used to work with my iphone and ipad, now it refuses to connect and I always get the above message.
I have performed the following:
1. Forgot bluetooth connection on both devices
2. Deleted iphone app and re-installed.
3. Re-paired and tried to connect with same issues,
4. Formed factor preset of amp with no luck.
I know the blueotth connects as I can play music through my amp from phone, I just cannot connect to update any presets.
Any solutions would be greatfully received, am getting so frustrated with this product.
Is it possible to put castors on code 100 combo? If so what type?
