My 3 and 1/2 year old Marshall Origin 50C hardly makes any noise

Over the past few days I have been switching between the modes and I noticed, that the low output mode makes a very funny noise, like it was underwater and that the high output mode was making crackling noises. Today, all three modes barely make any sound even if I turn the volume up to the max. What could be the problem?

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your comments, this could be a valve issue, but would suggest the amp is looked at by an engineer.

Similarly, I have a DSL40CR that makes a scratching noise on the low (20w) setting. No problems with the high setting. Hopefully a new set of tubes will solve the issue, even though the amp and tubes are hardly used. It's packed away in a closet until remodeling work is done.
