Failed to Update CODE Firmware

What should you do when it fails to update your CODE firmware?

Firmware
Answer:

Updating the firmware erases the existing firmware from your CODE amp. If this process is interrupted, it can result in a CODE amp not having a working firmware. However, firmware can always be reinstalled.

Before starting the Firmware Update process, please make sure that:

  1. You have the latest version of the browser that supports Web MIDI:
    • Chrome v54 and above,
    • Opera v42 and above,
    • Microsoft Edge (Chromium version) v80 and above
  2. You have given permission for the My Marshall site to use MIDI devices in your browser.
  3. You are not running any other software that could be using the MIDI port, such as a Digital Audio Workstation or MIDI Mapper.
  4. You don't have multiple tabs opened for the Firmware Update site.
    • Having more than one tab opened for the Firmware Update can lead to a failure caused by each Firmware Update tab responding to incoming MIDI messages.

If it fails to update your CODE amp, try the following:

  1. Close the Firmware Update site.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from your CODE amp.
  3. Open the Firmware Update site again.
  4. Connect the USB cable back to your CODE amp.
  5. Proceed to update the firmware.

If it fails again, then try:

  1. Close the Firmware Update site.
  2. Turn off your CODE amp.
  3. Open the Firmware Update site.
  4. Turn on your CODE amp.
  5. Proceed to update the firmware.

If that fails, it might be that your browser is in a corrupted MIDI state. Try restarting both your CODE amp and your computer, and then try to update the firmware.

If everything else fails and you are using MacOS computer, then try to update the firmware using Windows computer if you have access to it.
