I can play my new DSL40 on the 20w setting on the clean 1st channel for 30-50 mins and the sound will shut off (does the samething on 40w setting). Crunch on 1st channel will be muted and the second channel no problem with sound at all. I've taken it back to the store and of course can't get it to reproduce the problem. I've checked my power connection, no reverse polarity, neutral and ground all fine. I do have 126 volts at the outlet. My power company checked the line coming to the house and had 126v on each leg and no problems with the ground and neutral. The shop that I purchased the amp is running 123v. I cannot find anything on this site to tell me the voltage tolerances of the DSL40. Is this problem an over voltage issue or something else?

There is hardly any bass response from my DSL 15C, on either channel. Even with the bass turned all the way up. Also I have to turn the volume  to the maximum on the gain/clean channel and use the gain knob to get any volume. Very frustrating. PLEASE Help!

Greetings,

When was the DSL40CV released and for how long?  What is the difference from the DSL40C?

I can find any information on your website or anywhere on this amp.

Thanks.

My wife purchased a DSL 15C for my birthday.  I took it to a jam and it went silent for about 10 minutes.  Tried different cables and guitars and nothing worked.  It came back on and worked the rest of the night.  I played about two hours the next day and it went silent for about 5 minutes.  It cut out again the following day for about 3 minutes.  I told Amazon and they sent a replacement amp.  I plugged in the replacement amp, out of the box, and there was a loud noise.  All of the controls were at zero.  It never came on does not work at all.  Both of these amps are less than one week old and had consecutive serial numbers.  I purchased them on Amazon and therefore do not have a dealer.

Hey all,

Who has been working on the schematic for the new DSL 1w (2018)?

I've got mine open and have started thinking about some tone mods but would love any help with the schematic, part schematic or even a mod list.

I'd be totally happy to hack mine up first if anyone has a mod idea too.

I can read a schematic but I'd completly f%^$ it up if I tried to wrtie it out just via the PCB so if you'd like to help let me know and I'll send the high res pics ( assuming you dont have a 1w yourself).

Also I'd be all ears for some tube advice. I've put a 5751 inplace of one of the 12AX7 and its a bit better to my ears. I'm going to say V2 is the dirt channels V yeah?

So far I love it and i'll be interested to see what Blackstar do next with their future 1w.

I have a couple legacy amps. A JCM 900, and a JCM 2000 DSL 50. Somewhat surprised to not be able to find some PDF files of the manuals on the marshall website. Am I missing them ? A "discontinued" section ?

Thanks!

HI all,

There is a DSL15 head with MX412 for sale at a good price about an hour away from where I live and I wanted to ask a couple questions before I decide if I wanna go check it out or not.

Is a 4x12 too much cab for the DSL15? I mean, will it have the same punch? I don't play in a big space so that's why I love the 15/7 switchable watts on the head. Would I be better off with a 2x12 or even a 1x12? I have a Blackheart Handsome Devil combo that has 15/7 watt option and it's great but I want a half stack configuration and, well I just really want a Marshall!

My second question is about the tubes. I notice the head uses 6V6 power tubes unlike the big guys with EL34s. Is there a big difference? I have a Fender that uses 6V6s and it's great, but I want that Marshall roar. Can the DSL15 get me to close to a good Led Zep classic rock type sound or should I go for something else?

Cheers!

Hi,

I want to change the speaker of my Marshall DSL 40C, but the new speaker is of 8 ohms. In this case I will use just one 8 ohms output?  The 16 ohms output and the other 8 ohms output will be unplugged?

And about the power (RMS) of the new speaker? The manual of the DSL 40C said that the power is 40w, but the original speaker celestion seventy 80 have 80w... The new speaker can have 80w, 100w, 120w?

My DSL started to misbehave after about six months since I bought it. When I turn it on, the tubes don't light up so the amp itself does not produce a single sound. Now, I have tried to send it back to the store where I bought the amp but the damn thing magically started to work there in fornt of the repairer so he said that he could not find what's wrong with it. The problem occured a few more times so I contacted one of the local electricians and he did the job and the amp finally worked. After approximately two months the same problem occured so I asked the same guy who fixed it earlier to fix it again, and again it worked. Now after a month or so, it has happened again. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I need some advice. Thank you :)

Hi there

I´ve recently bought a dsl40c amp, and the first times i used it the amp  worked just fine and had a great sound!

After 2 weeks of  regular use the amp started making a popcorn-like sound but I thought it was normal or that it was due to the valves beeing new. More recently it started making this interminent sound: When I play gently it sound normal, but when I push it the sound drops .

The amp is still covered by  warranty but the shop where I bought its 250 km far from where I live, so if someone can help me out I would be very appreciated!!

Hello,

I just joined the forum so please excuse any incorrect behavior. I have a new dsl 40c with maybe 4 hours under its belt and all of a sudden with no warning it quit working. No sound whatsoever. The power light comes on and the tubes all appear to be glowing. It's still under warranty but I'm really questioning this purchase. After going online and visiting a few groups it seems like this is a fairly common issue. I guess what I'm looking for is a few people to comfort me in my time of need! Comments ate certainly welcome. Thanks so much!

My DSL401 has just started to intermittently volume drop i.e. the volume gently fades down to nothing - leave it a while, and the volume returns to normal.  Also, the effects loop doesn't seem to work as it used to - for example, if I plug a delay in to it, the delay is hardly noticeable when you play.  Not sure if the issues are related or not.  I've not had any issues at all over the last 12 years and the tubes have not been swapped out.  Grateful for any advice.  Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have recently opend up the DSL15H I have bought second hand and, surprise, a resistor has fallen off from somewhere in the head, down on the floor.

The resistor is a 5K6, 1/2 Watt resistor, and it looks like it has been snipped clean off from the board, as the legs are about 2 mm long, and bent. I have checked the schematics, and the only two 5K6 resistors I have found are R62 and R63, in the power amp section. Both of these are sitting firmly in place on the PCB.

Can you please advise if there is another 5K6 resistor in the circuit I have missed, and need to check? The head has worked OK so far and as far as I can tell, and I have not dared power it up since I found that resistor ; I will probably not dare until I hear from you guys.

Many thanks

Fred

To use my 8-ohm cab with my DSL 40C, do I need to unplug the dedicated 16-ohm plug from the back of my amp? Thanks
