This really stinks...

I have a brand new Code 25 and it stops playing through the speaker after a few seconds.  The output is always there when I plug in a headset, but the speaker plays for a few seconds then goes quiet.  I redownloaded and installed the firmware.  I tried different settings and different presets.  Nothing works.  Any other advice before i talke it back to the Guitar Center?

I'm curious to hear about anybody experimenting with removing the back on their Code to see what it sounds like.

I'm not a big fan of the closed back sound, especially on small combos.  I've noticed my Code vibrates like crazy even on low volumes and I swear I can feel air puffing out of the headphone and/or pedal jacks.  The speaker seems stifled closed inside that little box like it can't move or "breath".  I'm wondering if that is causing the boomy vibrating noises this amp likes to make.

I did find one forum where someone mentioned taking the back off their 50 and they were amazed at how much it opened up the sound and it removed some of the feedback these amps seem prone to.  I'm a little worried about voiding the warranty on the amp, but am real curious about what it would sound like if I made a 1/3 back like a standard combo or something along those lines.

Hi Marshall

I just bought a code 25, downloaded the app and tried to pair my amp to my phone which is a One Plus 3t.

However it doesn't pair like my Bose speaker, it only associates but nothing more, then in the app I can't manage to connect to the amp. Is my phone the problem?

Hi. First just to say that a am generally very happy with the CODE50 & it is definitely filling a gap to provide great practice tones with aux input from LickLibrary & my son's vdrum set to jam along! I have a coupe of items I wanted to put out there to the forum:

So the fizz - has anyone else noticed a very high end (treble) fizz or harsh crackle to the tone on most 'unsaturated' presets? It almost sounds like a digital clipping at the high end of the spectrum to my ear. It is definitely worse when using my 2015 Gibson Les Paul Less+ (which has the brass zero fret nut) like the amp is reacting to some of the pronounced higher frequencies on this guitar but it is also noticable with other guitars using a standard nut material.

The cabinet resonance I guess is due to the relatively light weight MDF that the cab is constructed of which appears to vibrate a little too readily has the master gets to about 1.5 / 10. I have dabbled a little with the resonance / presence settings under the speaker cab which has helped control it a little but I would be interested in any other ideas for reducing that boooom that can wash out the tone. I do have a 4 ohm Celestion G12T-75 from a long broken Marshall SS 50w combo which I am thinking of trying out - it is a physically heavier speaker than the CODE one pre-installed but I don't think structurely this will be a problem for the cabinet. I would appreciate any other ideas - anyone added noise suppression foam to the inside of the cab (as used in noisy PC towers) or anything else?

Cheers all.

Why don't the Code combos have speaker out jacks?

This is incredibly frustrating and made more so due to the nearly year long wait for the Code head to be available in the US.  I am very interested to hear the modeling through 1960 cabs, and it simply doesn't make sense to have a completely closed system on the combo amps.

Please consider this option in subsequent versions.

I have a Bluesbreaker reissue which I absloutley love.

Of course it doesnt have a master volume.

Has anyone any experience, good or bad of putting an attenuator before the speakers?

I want to keep the tone but redue the volume!

I have recently been given the above amp and before I connect it to a speaker and switch it on I am concerned to know the correct protocol for connecting a speaker cabinet(s).  The speaker output sockets have no information directly next to them but a label elsewhere on the rear of the amp states "WARNING. Not to be used with speaker cabinets of less than 4 ohms"

My queries are:-

1. Is it safe (i.e. without risk of damage to the amp) to use just one speaker output as long as it is connected to a speaker cabinet of 4 ohms minimum impedance and appropriate wattage?

2. When using both speaker outputs can they both be connected to cabinets each of 4 ohms minimum impedance or are the outputs paralleled in which case would I need to work with two cabinets each of 8 ohms to arrive at a 4 ohms minimum impedance in total?

Apologies if the answer to this seems obvious but I have a little knowledge of these matters and while a little knowledge can be 'a dangerous thing' it can also lead you to be concerned (possibly unnecessarily) about getting things right!

Thanks in anticipation

My first post here, so apologies if I'm out of line on Forum protocol!  I just bought a used MG250DFX used on Reverb. It's my first Marshall after a lifetime of dreaming of having one!

Where could one find the original owners manual if there is one for download, as well as find out what type of speakers came with the original unit?

Cheers!

Green backs all labeled 12KBT 1221/18

Would like to know the age of the cab.

Since the speakers are all marked the same I assume they are a matched set???

Thanks

My Marshall code 50 suddenly stopped working while playing. I heard a little "click" sound an the power went of on the amp. I did not blow the speaker. Spoke to a friend that suggested that the amplifyer fuse was the problem, as it was nothing wrong with the power outlett i used. Is this a problem i can fix myself? is it likely that the amplifyer fuse are the problem?

sorry about my english, i´m Norwegian ;)

How  far can you turn this up wihtout blowing it up!? Code 50

Ive got a main  Heavy Metal Tone I use all the time. The volume in the preset is set to  1.8. I have it that low so it doesnt blow my Clean sound away when I click between the two.

I was playing with a drummer the other day and I had the master volume up to maybe close to half and I was worried I was going to blow the speaker.

So How  far up is safe?

Oh Im using a Code 50.

So I just got my Code 25 amp and my guitar will show up in a couple days.

Even though my guitar isn't here yet I thought I would have a little bit of fun with it tonight.  One of the features that I really liked about this amp is being able to play music like from your phone through the amp either via Bluetooth or hardwired mini jack.   I did this tonight and to my surprise it sounded horrible! I tweaked the settings on the amp and of course it made no difference because those settings would only affect the guitar input.   I played the music through the music app on my phone then also through the Marshall Gateway app and got the same results. I thought maybe it was because I was doing it via Bluetooth?   But then I hardwired into the amp and it was the exact same issue. I guess there are other ways to listen to music while playing the guitar along with it but I just thought it was a pretty neat feature to have both sound sources coming out of the same speaker but there's no way that's going to happen.   Unless I'm  doing something wrong?

Good morning! I bought a Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee amplifiers! and a Marshall 2551BV Silver Jubilee speaker cabinet. I have tried to register the speaker cabinet! but it does not work. It might just be possible to register amplifiers?

Sincerely, Mikael in Sweden.

HI,

I have read that JVM can handle 2 cabinets at the same time.

For example:

1. connect 2x12 ( 2 -> 16ohm speakers in parallel )  into 2x16ohm input ( 8ohms )

2.connect 2x12(2->8ohm speakers in parellel ) into 2x8ohm input ( 4ohms )

Both connected at the same time. it looks like JMV OT is designed to handle it. I would like to confirm if that is save.

Regards,

Hi there. Just bought a code 50, and I'm really enjoying it. A request! any chance of getting A dot icon on the speaker selection part of the app to show wether you are selecting a 4, 2 or one speaker cab, rather than havig to go to the manual to check.

Cheers. Jim.

i am running 2 amps in stereo. one is a vox ac30 and the other is the marshall dsl 100h. when i am in the clean channel on the dsl i am in phase with both amps. when i select the ultra gain or 2nd channel on the dsl it goes out of phase with the ac30. sounds great with both amps except for this issue. i have inverted the phase on the speaker lead to use the lead channel with the vox so in doing that i have confirmed the phase issue.

just fyi, ive been playing for 40 years and have been a recording enginner for 35 and studio designer.. i know about phase.

any thoughts on what this might be?

love the amp btw.

1) CODE 50 occasionally locks up when changing speaker cabinets (no sound). Must reboot.

2) sound gets progressively "muddy" when tweaking controls. Must reboot to get the sound back.

3) Cannot update: CODE connects to PC, but app generates error saying it cannot get information from the CODE.
