Cheers!  I bought this beat up 100 Watt Marshall Tube Amp back in the 70's.  I think it was 1972 but life was a bit of a blur in those days.  The cover was so torn up, i removed it and stained the wood to give it a bit of character.  Last time I fired it up it worked fine.  The fan is loud but it did the trick.  The fan appears to have been replaced.  I was an aspiring bassist thru high school and early college but got in a motorcyclye accident which put an end to that dream.  I won't go into the details but my fret hand had to be pinned together.  Regardless, I am retired now and would like to get back into playing.  I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about this amp?  I've attached a few pics for your enjoyment.  I'm moving and will fire it up again once i get relocated.  Thank you for your time.

Alright y’all, this rookie here needs some advice and pointers regarding multi effects pedal and tube amps.

A little background…

I got my first tube amp about a year ago, love the thing. I slowly built a pedalboard with the basics (tuner, compressor, MXR classic distortion, tube screamer, holy grail reverb, Joyo delay, modded GE-7 EQ, JHS black box, chorus…). But I also wanted to start experimenting with multi effect pedals and patches, so I got a GX-100, exclusively to play around, tweak effects more in depth and see how it would be to have a one stop shop for all effects, albeit I have zero interest in amp modeling, I’m happy with my JCM800, just thinking about effects here.

I’ve never messed with multi-effects pedals, so here are my concerns…

1). With the GX-100 set up in a 4CM, I noticed that immediately all knobs on the amp itself are disabled, I’m thinking this is normal , since the control now lays on the Gx-100, not the amp itself (right?). However, isn’t there an option with multi effect pedals were I can still keep the raw sound of my tube amp and just feed it effects from my multi effect processor?

2). Considering question number 1 above. Is a multi effects pedal intended then for use on SS or modeling amps instead and not tube amps? Is it a complete disservice to a Marshall JCM800 to go and hook a multi effects processor to it?

If I can’t preserve the original base tone of my Marshall with the multi effect processor, it seems kind of a waste of time, the way I see it it would be stupid to hook a ME pedal trying to model an Amp that I already have, just to add effects to it. Am I missing anything? Am I way off here?

Would I be better off keeping the pedal board connected to Marshall like I had it and just get a modeling or SS amp to connect the GX-100 to?

I don’t gig, just play to backing tracks at home and occasionally get together with friends to jam together, but nothing serious or advanced...

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. I have a Code 100 combo and I have been thinking of upgrading the speakers. Should I replace the stock speakers in the amp, or would it be better if I just bought an external cab and bypass the built in speakers? I have found that when I deactivate the cab simulator in the amp I get a more “defined” and less muddy tone, but sometimes it just sounds like “an amp without cab”, the sort of scooped sound if that makes sense, even if the sound comes out through the amp speakers which should be considered a cab. If an external cab is better, what wattage should it be? Thanks!

Last week a thunderstorm rolled through while I was away for work and lightning struck my home and caused some damage to various electrical components in the home. My Marshall tube amp was plugged in to a wall socket. The amplifier will turn on but there is low volume and the drive channel won't switch off and there is no distortion either. Is this something where I can take it to a local Marshall retailer and have it shipped for repair or do I need to find a local repairman?
Thanks!

Hello, I bought this week a Marshall SC20CNB. Searching some forums, I noticed that there is a problem with Effects Loop in some SC20 units (all of them models? combo or head?), and that you have a solution to fix the problem.

I'm waiting for my amp to arrive next week, but already anticipating, does this limited series (Navy Blue) has this problem? Could you tell me just by the serial number?

As I live in Brazil, I’m worried if you have some authorized technical assistance here.

Kindest regards.

I recently bought a stockwell II speaker, and i would like to play with some instruments on these speaker, with the aux input when instrument doesn't make sound it switch automaticaly to bluetooth source even if nothing is paired with. There's a gap before the sound reapear on the speaker it's boring with a keyboard or guitar with a preamp in the minijack input. Is there any way to update this bug ? Hi. I have a Marshall DSL 100 HR head and i wanted to use the "silent recording" feature but i cant find the proper steps on how to do so,  and i would rather consult with the Marshall team before trying anything out. From what i understand, because i dont have a load box like a Torpedo Captor or anything like that, i still need to have my cabinet connected to the head, but after that i dont know how i should connect and/or do things. A step by step guide would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Hello, I have a question about Emberton.
My speaker turns off after inactive time.

My Emberton connected to PC using TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth adapter.

When the music is not playing for ~5 minutes, the speaker turns off without any sounds.

When I turn off by pushing the control knob I hear the guitar sound.

But my Emberton turns off arbitrary without sounds.

Problem for a few days.

14 months everything was ok.

I will be grateful for help. Thank you.

I have a Model 1960B 4x12 cabinet that I purchased used around 1980, and I'm trying to find out what year it was manufactured (see photos).  The serial number is "3479".  The speakers appear to me to be the original Marshall-labelled Celestion speakers, part number "T3120".  Three of the speakers have a stamp near the part number stamp that reads "AM8".  The fourth speaker has a stamp that reads "CM20".  I assume these are likely Celestion manufacture date codes, but not certain.  Only one of the four speakers has a stamp that reads "15 ohms" (but using the omega symbol).  The speakes are wired series-parallel.  According to the nameplate, the cab is rated at 16 ohms (apparently actually 15 ohms), and 100 watts.

Based on the excellent condition of the cab when I bought it, I am assuming it to be mid to late 70s vintage, but would like to know the exact year, if possible.  I saw a post on another forum that claimed the OEM "T3120" speakers are actually Celestion G12-65 speakers, but simply OEM-labelled for Marshall, and that they only came that way preinstalled from the Marshall factory.  Is that true?  From the Celestion website, I see that they still sell "Heritage Series G12-65" speakers, and they are available in 8 ohms or 15 ohms.  The new G12-65 speakers shown on the Celestion website look the same, down to the round mesh vent in the center of the magnet assembly.  The above details would seem to confirm that the T3120 speakers are indeed 15 ohm G12-65s.  If true, that implies that the cab will actually handle up to 260W (not much risk of blown speakers with a 100W head).

I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can provide.

Cheers,

James

Is there any way to have it launch and use the current amp state? Maybe I've missed a setting. This has occasionally bit me when I adjust the amp then run the app.
