Ok.  A couple questions I'm sure can be answered here.

I just bought the DSL40CR less than a week ago.  It's awesome for something smaller.  Great at home amp.

However, the first clean channel is very low on volume, while if i switch to the other clean its 3 times as loud or more.  Is something wrong here?  One clean channel  can be cranked to max volume which would be the equivalent of the other clean channel at maybe a 2.

Second question, I'm hearing a lot of talk of people swapping out the speakers in these amps.  Is this always recommended?

Third question, I desire more reverb.  Is getting a pedal the answer, or another Marshall amp altogether?  Would a JVM be any better in the reverb category?

Fourth question, would getting different tubes change any of the previous concerns?  Would getting different tubes make the amp better?

Im new to valve amps, and I'm struggling to answer all these questions.

Thanks

I have 2 cabs,   2x12(16 Ohms 100w) and 4x12(8 Ohms 240w).

In Code 100h manual, says the speaker output is MINIMUM 8ohms load. I can use my 16 ohms cab without harm the amp head or the cab itself?

I'm getting trouble in the 4x12 transportation, the 2x12 is way lighter. Until now I'm only using the 8Ohms cab in the code 100h.

My Stanmore 2 speaker keeps turning off & back on again (sound plays and indicator lights go on & off) when playing vinyl through the RCA or AUX. Very annoying. No problem when playing on Bluetooth through my iPhone. Any ideas please?

Need to figure out why channel 2, the instrument and mic channel is not working. Channel 1 and mic only channel are working fine. Opened it up and took out the chassis and there is nothing obvious. The basic schematic shows the Channel 1 and 2 share the instrument input on the ring cable input. Not much info out there which is good news considering this amp has been in production for a while so it doesn't seem there was on going  issues. Any ideas? Thanks

Here are a few things I would suggest as improvements to the Marshall Code series. I have a 25 so some things may be specific to that amp. I have stuck to things that could be improved only by software or firmware as these are improvements everyone can have simply by updating the firmware rather than modifying the amp itself.

1. Reduced power mode to switch between full power and lower power mode. This would fix the volume control issue everyone complains about.  Maybe this could be a global setting in the firmware ?

2. USB audio Volume level setting (e.g.  -3dB, 0dB, +3dB etc). This could also be a global setting in the firmware ?

2. Normalise the volumes of the models, some are way too hot (British class A power-amp), some are way too low (Natural pre-amp). I beleive this is the reason why some models have strange low frequency distortion (50s British, OD DSL).

3. Show the configuration of the Cab models, not everyone is a Marshall fanboy and I have no idea what cab a "1960X". even if it was displayed as "1960X (4x12)" I would at least know what the configuration of cab the model is.

4. Fix the spring and hall reverbs, they sound very cheap, like the "echo" you would get on a cheap karaoke machine, certainly nothing like a spring reverb.

5. For god's sake release an official desktop editor!!! with the option to save/restore/edit patches.

6. A sync button to sync the amp presets with your gateway. It you want to rearage the patches online in gateway, you have to manually save all the patches one at a time to the amp using the phone app. So if you add a new patch at position 0, you have to manually save all 100 patches one at a time in order to match your gateway sounds!

 7. Fix the tuner, it is pretty bad on both the amp and the app. It's slow to respond and not very accurate (at least thats what its like on mine). Ive no idea how well it works on the foot controller.

8. If possible add a Fuzz pedal model, even at the expense of removing another model (I wouldnt miss the pretty poor Acoustic simulator for instance).

These are just some suggestions that I feel would make the amp just a little bit better, but in general I'm having a lot of fun with this little amp, and love the sounds and features it has. It is way better sounding than some of the negative reviews online would suggest.

Maybe other people can suggest firmware updates too?

I have the following problem with my Marshall Stanmore (I) Bluetooth speaker:

Whenever I am wirelessly connected, the Bluetooth connection drops after 20 minutes — while playing music!

The surprising thing is that it not just happens randomly after 15 to 45 minutes — no, it happens suspiciously regularly after 20 minutes. I went and tested this with my laptop (4 times) and my phone (3 times) by writing down the start and stopping times, and the Bluetooth connection got interrupted (the music stopped) after 20 minutes each time. 7 times in a row. No exception.

• Yes, I have removed the speaker from all devices, then re-repaired them. Multiple times.

• Yes, the problem exists with all my devices that can send sound via Bluetooth (laptop, phone, desktop,). Those same devices have no problem to stream music to my Sony sound system or portable Bluetooth speakers. The problem only exists with the Stanmore.

• No, the Stanmore is not near a wifi router, a micro wave, a DECT phone or close to other Bluetooth devices. All of my other Bluetooth devices work perfectly fine. During my tests, the speaker and the Bluetooth source were about half a meter/two feet apart.

• Yes, I have had the Stanmore disconnected from power for an hour. Even a few days, actually.

• Yes, sound works perfectly fine via the wired connection (INPUT 1) and it doesn't stop after 20 minutes.

• Yes, the "STANDBY MODE" switch on the back  is set to "STANDARD". (But surely no Bluetooth speaker would ever go into standby mode WHILE playing music anyways, right?)

• No, I am out unfortunately of warranty. The speaker looks great and hasn't been used that much. I also find that it financially doesn't make much sense to spend 130€ (max.) on a Marshall OOW repair.

• No, the Stanmore I is not compatible with the Marshall Bluetooth app, and there is no way for me to update the firmware (as far as I know).

• Yes, I can absolutely open up the speaker and post pictures of specific components, if someone has a clue about what capacitors or chips to look out for.

Additional info on the issue:
I experience no problems connecting via Bluetooth, from any device. I can start playing music — but after 20 minutes, the music will automatically stop. If I am streaming from Spotify for example, the player will just pause. The Stanmore stays powered, and the red BLUETOOTH light on the Stanmore is still on, but it appears a little dimmer than normally. I have found that pressing the SOURCE/WAKE button once usually wakes up the Bluetooth connection again, and then after a while, I can resume music by un-pausing on the laptop or phone.

Thoughts? Ideas?
The fact that this happens after a very precise operating time, sure sounds a lot like it could be standby-related. But the Stanmore is not set to POWERSAVER mode. And even if it was, it would only enter standby mode after a certain time if it wasn't playing anything. A speaker that goes into standby mode every 20 minutes WHILE playing music ... that would be ridiculous! And yet, that is exactly what I am dealing with.
Any ideas or clues for what to try or look out for?

As title says I have no output to the speaker cab. All I hear is a very quiet fizz/hum. Output to headphones is fine. Only arrived today and will be going back Monday unless I can resolve this. Code 2x12 cab seems fine and tried three different speaker leads. Gutted as I was so looking forward to getting a full weekend on this before going back to work.

Hi i have a set of combined issues with my Code 50 with the 4 button footswitch

First of, love the products!

But my issue with it is major! I cannot set any preset on my footswitch, It seems so easy on the tutorials but mine just keeps on switching back to the preset that already was on the button (1,2 or 3). I do as followed. I chose the preset i want on ex.button 1, so i hold the "store/exit" button for 2 seconds and then i push the 1 button on the footswitch. But it only changes back to the preset it WAS. So no changes. When i HOLD the "Store/Exit" button for too long (3a4 sec) then it says "stored" and then no sounds comes out of the amp anymore, i can push the REV and AMP buttons and the LED light up. But no sound! The footswitch also then doesnt butch. I have to restart the AMP to get it to work again.

I tried to update the firmware but it already was up-to-date so i reinstalled the latest firmware again. I also tried to reset the AMP back to the factory reset but the problem still exists.

Please help,

I have an Origin 20c Amplifier that I purchased new last year. It must have been old stock because it appears the manufacture date was 2018. I believe this unit has the faulty Jack wiring since the labels for the external speakers do not match the owners manual (2 8ohm jacks, without the line indicating 16ohm for both). My question is, will this unit work with a single Origin 212 cabinet, assuming I unplug the internal speaker, or do I need to get it repaired. If it will work, which of the speaker jack should I use, the one in the middle or the one furthest from the 16 ohm Jack

Does anyone know if these are still supported by Marshall and if they are discontinued as I've seen on  a retailer site here in the UK? I was looking at buying one but may wait for a replacement model.

Thank you.

Hi! I have a question about CODE 100H. I need to play directly in mixer but it hasn't a DI exit, can I use it without a cabinet? If I can, how can I do it? If I don't use cabinet, will CODE be damaged? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I added presets that I would like to add to my Code 50. They appear on the bottom of My Gateway, but I am unable to drag them into my 100 presets. Even clicking the amp icon to demo the preset does't work. I am using Chrome and have my computer connected via USB to my amp (status is Code: Connected).

Also, the 100 presets currently in My Gateway are in a different order than my presets on the amp.

I have watched the turorials but it doesn't seem to be working. If you could let me know how to add the selected presets from My Library to my presets on the amp that would be great.

I've got an Origin 5C, about 6 months old.  Has worked fine and is a fun little amp.  But last night I had my first issue.
Got the rig set up, with front-end fx, and also some fx in the loop. Warmed it up, then played a few bars in low power. All worked fine, so I switched to full power, and stepped away for a few minutes to let it warm up some more.
When I came back, it was still powered on (light and mild hum), but the footswitch was dead and there was zero volume. Not even cable crackle when plugging and unplugging the guitar.
I messed around with all the connections. Pulled everything and plugged in directly (also checked the instrument cable). So, guitar > cable > amp. Still no volume, and just a slight hum (very slight; it wasn't ampliyfing anything, so this was just circuit hum).
I dissambled the the thing, to check tubes and connections. Everything looked grand.
Reassembled it, and it worked fine. Played for a good 10 or 15 minutes at medium volume, and it was a charm.
But then the volume started dropping. Would come in and out. Then it dropped completely, and the footswitch went dark again.
I tried connecting an external preamp into the return (with a dummy plug in the send), but no luck. Footswitch was still dark.
Hum but no volume.
Haven't tried it yet today, but I'm expecting the same behaviour. My assumption is that there is something that goes sideways when the temperature gets up.
So, two questions:
1 - Is this a power tube issue? I haven't noticed any other problems or symptoms of bad tubes. And, like I said, it's 6 months old. Never gigged, but played loud fairly often.
2 - What's up with the footswitch? I can't find any schematics of the Origin series, and I don't care to go tracing. So, I'm not sure exactly where the FS fits into the circuit. I was wondering if that symptom might help to diagnose.
Anyway, a great little amp, but it's acting up!
Has anybody had or heard of this issue?
Thanks, friends

How well do you think a Marshall DSL40CR would do in a live setting? I'm looking for an upgrade on my CFX30, our band is getting bigger shows coming up and I need a louder amp... Opinions needed!

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not but maybe you’ll know the answer or where I can find it.

I’ve got a 100W Marshall DSL Head, not the JCM2000 series one but the series after that, and basically what’s happening is when I’m playing it will every now and then cut out, the channel indicator light will dim and go out along with the volume, this happens fairly regularly. And then just the other day it cut out but the channel light stayed on, with no sound, and I couldn’t change to the other channel. Turning the amp off and then back on “fixed” it but I’m sure it will happen again.

? ? Any suggestions  as to what it could be would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you time.

It's always been very hit and miss but the Bluetooth connection of the gateway app to my Code 25 literally never works. Why aren't Marshall doing anything to fix this? Surely can't be difficult.
