Where can I find a manual for the DSL40CR amp? It looks like everything here is for the CODE amps. The print on the "manual" (a single sheet) that came with the amp is so small it's unreadable even with a magnifying glass.

Hi All,

I've been playing for awhile now, but no so much with amplification.  As a present for a recent celebration, I was given a nice Epiphone electric guitar and a Marshall CODE 50.  Problem is, the manual doesn't tell me everything I need to know, and the online "tutorials" on the Marshall site seem to be more like short overviews and demonstrations.

Does anyone know where there is a comprehensive guide to operating the CODE 50?  Like, lights/indicators, blinking vs. not blinking, other overall how-to's for the CODE 50?  Seems to be a really nice amp, but I feel I'm not unlocking all of its potential.

Thanks, in advance!

I am going stir crazy trying to get my 6101 midi channel switching to work witha new Boss ES5.

The channel switching via the front panel and the footswitch works fine.

I am foillowing the instructions in the amp manual for midi channel switching without success. In the midi patch the amp is designated as channel  1 and I insert the channel number (ie 1, 2 or 3) as the PC. After I send the patch message from the ES5 then  I press the relevant channel no. and the store button on the amp and the three lights light up as they are supposed to.

However it is not working despite my amp tech telling me that the amp is receiving the midi messages.

Should the 6101LE midi channel switching be able to be midi controlled with a Boss ES5 ? Are they compatible despite their age difference ?

Is the amp perhaps receiving but not storing ?

Any help from someone who uses midi switching on a 6100 or 6101 with an es5 or es8 would be greatly appreciated ....! Thanks.

I cant't reset my amplifier to the factory settings. I do everything as written in the manual, but every time I hold the "store" button, the message "canceled" appears.

Hi!

I have a Marshall DSL40CR and a PEDL-91016 footswitch.

(By the way, there is no manual online for the PEDL-91016 footswitch.)

Is it possible to program the footswitch for particular combinations of channel + master volume.  What I would like is...

Button 1 = Classic Gain Green + Master Volume 2

Button 2 = Classic Gain Red + Master Volume 1

Button 3 = Ultra Gain Green + Master Volume 1

Button 4 = Ultra Gain Red + Master Volume 1

Button 5 = Master Volume (toggles MV 1 and MV2 ...no change to default functionality).

The context is that I want my Master Volume 1 to be "Rhythm Loudness" and Master Volume 2 to be "Lead/Solo Loudness."  However the loudness for the Classic/Green channel is too low so I want to default it to "Lead/Solo Loudness" (aka Master Volume 2) for unity loudness to the other rhythm channels.

Thanks!

This is killing me! total dealbreaker. If I can't find a solution I'll return this speaker which I love everything else about it.

It goes to auto-standby if it's unused for 20 mins regardless of bluetooth use or sound coming from RCA jack. But whenever I play something next time, I have to touch the knobs to wake it up manually. I put the speaker in my bookshelf which my plan is to not need to touch it in every use.

I want it to not go stanby mode ever. Is it possible? I couldn't find any answer in the manual, in the forum or in any other place. Sent a support inquiry as well, but I'm curious if anyone else is having same issue.

Hello, perhaps I'm being thick, but the little 1 minute or so videos available through the marshall site hardly seem up to the job of properly introducing a new user to the amp and all it's functions.

Has anyone produced a decent guide, video or written to properly explain the functions and those 'tricks' that come with experience or those featires you fall over when fiddling away the hours on the many options provided.

It seems to me that a 'Master Class' would best help new users maximise their enjoyment whilst minimising the painful of experience of trial and error that eventually leads to frustration with sound resulting in turning the amp off!

Manual says "Connect a single speaker cabinet here for the DSL1HR head". Is it means I can't use cabinet with two 8ohm speakers in series?

Hi, can anyone explains to me WHY we can't use a CODE 100H without the cabinet? For VALVE amps there is a good reason for which you need the cabinet always connected but for solid state amps it seems very strange.

Is it maybe an error in the manual? Maybe it's a phrase that has been written for all the Marshall valve heads and it was mistakenly added to the CODE as well?

Please let me know, I have an application where I only need the 100H coming up soon.

Thanks!

The manual that came with the head says use output 3 when using a single 8 ohm cab.

The online manual on the Marshall website says to  use output 2 when using a single 8 ohm cab.

I  have plugged a single cab into these both  at different times and output 2 seems to have more volume and treble than output 3

I am slightly confused and annoyed as shouldn’t  either 8 ohm output sound the same irregardless of which one I plug my single 8 ohm cab into?

I would appreciate some clarification so that I can use the correct 8 ohm output for my speaker cab!

Update to my original post as I  have an additional question related to rear speaker outputs.

The third output speaker socket and the revised manual show this as output for 2x16 ohm. (Mine has the modified sticker attached)

Does this mean:

a: that you can plug two 16 ohms speaker cabs which have been set up in parallel into output socket 3 and the power amp sees a total of 8 ohms? .

b: output socket 3 already internally wired in parallel with socket 2 and such you plug one 16 ohm cab into socket 3 and one 16 ohm cab into socket 2, for a total of 8 ohm impedance?

c: Not sure what else could be possible?

Could you please confirm which is the correct approach? Thanks, Ross

The 100w head is not loud enough for me so can i run it into the return of a louder head , this would mean the louder head having the 4x12 connected + the code head would have no speaker connected , now i always thought that solid state amps do not require a load box but the manual says do not leave the speaker un connected , so can i run this way or do i need a load box even tho the amp is solid state ?

Hallo,

I just purchased my new Origin head 20H and I noted a discrepancy between the rear panel speaker TAGS and the electronic manual and photo available on Marshall website. In my amp there is the socket n.2 for a mono 8 ohm connection ans the socket n.3 is labeled with a dotted line to the n.2 for the connection of a pair of cabinet 16 ohm. while in the Marshall web site the sockets n.2 and n.3 are labeled with 8 ohm. Could you Clarify please? thanks.

hi all,

I ve got a helix hx I am trying to use for channel swap on the amp.

For all of the above the following applies:

- JVM footcontroller is disconnection

- JVM midi has been reset: its on MIDI channel 1

Boss ES5 (works)

I can get it working using a Boss ES5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YI65cgA4XI

Midi cable setup: Boss ES5 (out)  > JVM (IN)

Also going from Boss through the helix (midi passthrough works).

Midi cable connection:  Boss ES 5 (out) > Helix (IN) > Helix (out) > JVM

However, this is using Midi patch panel change. Not sure how this differs from MIDI CC?

Helix HX (not working)

For Helix im following this video : https://youtu.be/simaPS7dzLw?t=55

Midi cable connection:   Helix (out) > JVM

Im using MIDI CC and following the table in JSH User manual.

channel : 1

Function: CC: 16

value 2

= clean channel, Orange mode.

I set the amp up so that the midi controller is BLINKING and it doesnt stop blinking: its not receiving the signal?

I feel like Im close to getting there.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Eric
