Does anyone know if these are still supported by Marshall and if they are discontinued as I've seen on  a retailer site here in the UK? I was looking at buying one but may wait for a replacement model.

Thank you.

Hi! I have a question about CODE 100H. I need to play directly in mixer but it hasn't a DI exit, can I use it without a cabinet? If I can, how can I do it? If I don't use cabinet, will CODE be damaged? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I added presets that I would like to add to my Code 50. They appear on the bottom of My Gateway, but I am unable to drag them into my 100 presets. Even clicking the amp icon to demo the preset does't work. I am using Chrome and have my computer connected via USB to my amp (status is Code: Connected).

Also, the 100 presets currently in My Gateway are in a different order than my presets on the amp.

I have watched the turorials but it doesn't seem to be working. If you could let me know how to add the selected presets from My Library to my presets on the amp that would be great.

I've got an Origin 5C, about 6 months old.  Has worked fine and is a fun little amp.  But last night I had my first issue.
Got the rig set up, with front-end fx, and also some fx in the loop. Warmed it up, then played a few bars in low power. All worked fine, so I switched to full power, and stepped away for a few minutes to let it warm up some more.
When I came back, it was still powered on (light and mild hum), but the footswitch was dead and there was zero volume. Not even cable crackle when plugging and unplugging the guitar.
I messed around with all the connections. Pulled everything and plugged in directly (also checked the instrument cable). So, guitar > cable > amp. Still no volume, and just a slight hum (very slight; it wasn't ampliyfing anything, so this was just circuit hum).
I dissambled the the thing, to check tubes and connections. Everything looked grand.
Reassembled it, and it worked fine. Played for a good 10 or 15 minutes at medium volume, and it was a charm.
But then the volume started dropping. Would come in and out. Then it dropped completely, and the footswitch went dark again.
I tried connecting an external preamp into the return (with a dummy plug in the send), but no luck. Footswitch was still dark.
Hum but no volume.
Haven't tried it yet today, but I'm expecting the same behaviour. My assumption is that there is something that goes sideways when the temperature gets up.
So, two questions:
1 - Is this a power tube issue? I haven't noticed any other problems or symptoms of bad tubes. And, like I said, it's 6 months old. Never gigged, but played loud fairly often.
2 - What's up with the footswitch? I can't find any schematics of the Origin series, and I don't care to go tracing. So, I'm not sure exactly where the FS fits into the circuit. I was wondering if that symptom might help to diagnose.
Anyway, a great little amp, but it's acting up!
Has anybody had or heard of this issue?
Thanks, friends

How well do you think a Marshall DSL40CR would do in a live setting? I'm looking for an upgrade on my CFX30, our band is getting bigger shows coming up and I need a louder amp... Opinions needed!

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not but maybe you’ll know the answer or where I can find it.

I’ve got a 100W Marshall DSL Head, not the JCM2000 series one but the series after that, and basically what’s happening is when I’m playing it will every now and then cut out, the channel indicator light will dim and go out along with the volume, this happens fairly regularly. And then just the other day it cut out but the channel light stayed on, with no sound, and I couldn’t change to the other channel. Turning the amp off and then back on “fixed” it but I’m sure it will happen again.

? ? Any suggestions  as to what it could be would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you time.

Hi. I want to ask if Marshall Woburn II is any good at low volumes. Do I need something dedicated for playing music/movies at low volumes ?

It's always been very hit and miss but the Bluetooth connection of the gateway app to my Code 25 literally never works. Why aren't Marshall doing anything to fix this? Surely can't be difficult.

For a couple of years I have owned a Code25 and a Code100. And I'm very happy.

I understand the criticism of Marshall's patches, but for me it's no problem. I have simply never used any of them. It was enough with one try and I realized that I have to find the right sound myself.

Only once have I found a patch that fits my guitars directly. It was SCJM800 SLF, but in that patch everything goes to eleven.

It is far as I can see some extremely important things to think about.

First of all, the settings differ a lot between the guitars, I guess because it is a digital amplifier. A perfect setting for a Les Paul can be useless for a Stratocaster etc.

I myself have played on the amps with a Les Paul, a Stratocaster and a Telecaster. And each guitar requires its own settings. This is not strange, a consequence of how the amplifier is designed.

Another crucial thing is the height of the microphones. There you have to test yourself to get a good sound, especially single coil may require adjustment of the microphone height. Height adjustment gives enormously much more effect than on a tube amplifier.

In general, I can say that my sounds are closer to the original with both precence and resonance quite loud. In addition, the Compressor helps quite well.

In short: Since Code is a digital amplifier, it obviously works completely differently than a tube amplifier. It is not possible to fix good sound for a Gibson and then think that it will automatically sound the same on a Fender.

All this applies to JTM45, Plexi, JCM800 and Classic American. I have not tested the rest so carefully.

Surprised how quiet these forums are, in particular about the Code's?

I would have expected there would be several hints and tips and lots of new patches uploaded every day.

Has everyone dumped thier Code's by now?

Hello

I've finally had time to sit down and play properly with my new Code 25.  There is a lot of fun to be had with this thing, however there are a few things that have became apparent with some of the models.

Pre-amp models "50s British" and "OD DSL" have really odd low frequency harmonics. To the point where both these pre amp models are pretty much  unusable. The default patches that use these settings are proof of this. To me it appear that its these patches that certain Youtuber's concentrated on when bad mouthing the amp online (and I can understand why). All the models have some amounts of digital artifacts, but these 2 models are unbeleivably bad.

Power-amp model "British Class A" seems too hot to me, not that I have an expert ear, but it is almost impossible to get a clean tone with that power amp regardless of what pre-amp you put in front of it and how low you set the pre-amp gain.

I understand that no modelling is perfect, but in general these 3 models just don't respond the same way as the other models on the amp.

OK. I'm aware that the Code 25 is a low cost practice amp, and I am fully prepared to just pretend these models dont exist and live with the other much better models on the amp. However in the spirit of reporting issues with the potential of improving the product then if these models can be fixed in the next firmware update (if there is one) then that would be great.

Thanks

There seems to be some Marshall Code 25's with a power transformer in the bottom of the cab and some without. What is the story, What is the difference and which is the newer model?

At some point Marshall will give up on Code and move on to something else (and by past experience it may not be that far away). I would have liked some way to backup and restore patches to the amp once there is no more Gateway or online storage (this happened to Fender Fuse)
I cant believe that after 5 years Marshall dont have even a basic PC application to perform the simple task of saving and loading patches. Even the most basic of multi FX have that functionality these days.

Its clearly hoping for too much to get an editor, you can do that on the app, or even on the amp itself fairly easily anyway.  I'm more worried about managing patches if Marshall shut down the Code servers. Without a way to backup and restore what happens if you have to reset your amp. You have lost everything. After spending a lot of time getting all our sounds just right, I for one would probably give up at that point.

I'm not asking for much, save a patch from the amp to a file, load a patch back from a file to the amp!

Hi, I just recieved my Code 50 yesterday "bought brand new" and the amp sounded great until i hooked up to my pc this morning and downloaded a featured preset not a communiy preset. I am running usb not bluetooth and its my studio setup. Now all the distortion and gain sounds like the input gain is wide open clipping the signal coming in at all volume levels, and on all distortion and od gain presets. I tried to reset the amp and did a firmware update now its litterally so bad you cant play it. This is certainly a software issue cause the effects and clean tones sound fine. This happened immediatley after i sent the preset usb from the website to the amp from the pc. Also i tried several guitars, usb cables, guitar cables and even my mac. just dont know wether i should send it back or if thiscan be fixed with a firmware patch or something , Thanks
